I get over 4k RPM on a daily basis thanks to oblivious drivers who merge without the slightest concern over whether the space they're trying to occupy is already taken.
Had you been using regular gas all along? I know that the system is supposed to get real-time feedback from its various sensors, but I also know that I’ve seen evidence that it takes a while to adjust to things like changes in fuel.
I went through a set of Defenders on my 2014 CX-9. They were definitely better than the OE Bridgestones, but once I replaced them with the Continental TerrainContact H/T I didn’t look back. The Contis are available in 255/50R20 109H - I recommend them without reservation.
I’ve never delved into what Walmart does to police vendors who sell through their site, but I do know that most of what people buy from “Walmart” online is actually coming from those third-party sellers. I’d seriously look at how much Walmart stands behind the sale before I bought any auto parts...
And to add to that - if a widget costs $20 from every other vendor and you find somebody selling them for $5 a piece, the person selling them for cheap is most likely trying to rip you off. The only exception would be somebody who got the wrong parts and is trying to cut their losses, and...
Mounting width range for a 245/50R19 is 7-8.5” and the measuring wheel width is 7.5”. Mount it on an 8.5” wide wheel and it’ll still stick out close to half an inch past the lip of the rim. It’s just one of those sizes that’s designed to fit narrow wheels.
But since you asked about what I...
Really? Because I gave my (lack of) symptoms, and asked for a better answer. The first response I got was a screenshot of the owner’s manual. Admittedly, you did say early on that bad plugs would precipitate coil failure, but I still didn’t understand that it would happen as rapidly as it does...
The history of spark plugs is surprisingly long and sordid. Before platinum/iridium alloys became a thing, there were very good reasons to change your plugs every few thousand miles. I knew that things had changed, but I wanted to know what the failure mode of a bad spark plug would look like. I...
My position was that I don’t see the sense in doing something for no better reason than “the manual says so”.
I found the reason - high-resistance plugs make ignition coils run hotter, and that can lead to sudden failure of the coil, which can precipitate a quick failure of the catalytic...
Again - I have no drop in gas mileage, and my engine is running smoothly. By all indications, neither electrode has started to erode, as I would expect from a platinum/iridium alloy.
What’s the purpose of replacing a “wear item” that is giving no indication of having worn?
Pirelli Scorpion Zero AS Plus 3 and Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus are at the top of my personal list. It really comes down to what you want your tires to do - Tire Rack’s site will let you prioritize different aspects of customers’ ratings to help you find what best fits your needs.
Serious question: why? I have no loss in fuel economy, and the engine runs as well as the day I drove it off the dealer’s lot. I realize that putting raw fuel through the cat is very bad, but the ECM should throw a fault for the mismatch in ratios from the oxygen sensors well before that...
