houston raceway park rents their track. $1500 for the first 5 cars and $300 a car after that. 10 am to 5 pm. i would be up to rent next year when my car is back together if there were a few other people definitely down. i don't want to put the $1500 deposit down and be there racing with myself...
tino's, i believe is the name. it is over by the pasadena mall. if you are coming 225 from 610, you will exit pasadena blvd and make a right. it's up a couple of lights.
There is one in pasadena that I always recommend. Also, don't know what side of town you are on. They did mine and a bunch of people who I work with. All came out awesome. About to take another car up there next week.
They do it at that body shop. Another reason that I want to go there. Saves me having to drive all over town to get blasting and paint done separately.
Currently, fugro consultants. Most other places are kind of slow right now. Fugro is keeping me busy though.
The price on the paint isn't too bad. It's a little above the average rate, but I know their work personally. I know that I can bring them a stripped-down roller and they will blast and...
Looks like work is going to be getting even more busy rather than slowing down. We have an out-of-town project coming up and I may or may not be going. Even if I don't go, there will still be many more weeks locally of 80-100 hours due to everyone else leaving.
Got a lead on a built motor but...
The rx8 e-shaft is a good idea on paper, but I'm not 100% convinced that it's worth my investment. That kind of investment could be reserved for some other forced induction goodies. The irons and housings have no fate as of yet. I will be buying another extra motor as soon as I get some time off...
there is no head on a rotary.
rotary engines are prone to thermal breakdown. does it just overheat at a stop? does it overheat under load? does it smoke while overheating? what exactly has been changed? has the radiator been changed? how many mechanics have seen it?
if it smokes while...
sorry, i never noticed this thread. i have a couple extra coil packs that i will have up for sale as soon as i test them. i will pm you when i get them.
a local guy has that kit on his 8. the company that installed it threw in a meth injection for free. i don't know what he paid for it, but i can imagine the install was expensive. he went through alamo rotary in texas. the only thing that i didn't like about it was the intercooler had a single...
stripped to the ground and all parts painted separately with the body on a rotisserie so that the bottom could be painted. i want the entire finish from 87 to be removed before i put a new finish on.
as far as mounting, i will use the mounts from banzai for the RE swap. IIRC, the fc oil pan...
little update. it has been a while, but i came to a new conclusion on my build. this is going to be a frankenstein motor now.
here is the bill of materials;

irons - RE
housings - s5 turbo
intakes - RE
throttle body - s5 turbo
