Sorry to hear your story.
Wasn’t there a known issue with the 15s and early 16s? If I recall correctly, it happened at lower miles, but maybe this one was just hanging on a bit longer.
I would definitely follow up with Mazda NA. Total BS if they don’t step up here. Less than a year over and...
I recently noticed our 16.5 doing this. Only when it’s cold out on a cold start.
It’s my wife’s car and I don’t typically drive it, so it’s possible it’s always done this.
45k on it. I plan on changing the fluid this summer. I’ll check the level before draining.
Mine will be delivered Monday!
Any concerns with water considering the filter is now fully exposed? Chris posted a filter cover in another thread. Wonder if it’s worth getting something like that.
I drive in all kinds of conditions- rain, snow sleet, mud.
Y’all know shops don’t bother with anything like this, right?
These pinch welds are pretty robust. I lift from them and put stands under them.
Can’t say the same for the pinch welds on the old Saturn s series cars I had years ago.
These service writers sure like to make things up. I guess being comfortable lying to people’s faces is part of the job description.
Like most things out there, I’m sure it’s not all of them. So if anyone on here works in that role and is honest, please don’t be offended by what I’m saying.
No...
Interesting. I only have experience with manuals on a dyno. Is it related to the converter not locking? It’s a pretty significant drop.
Looking forward to hearing your review once you have it installed. It will likely influence if I go for it or not.
I’ve also had my eye on the mufflers and...
This is good to hear. I’ve been thinking about this for a while. The one thing that has me hesitating is that the dyno graph shows a small decrease in the lower RPMs for the pull that had the highest top end. Would hate to lose anything down low on a daily driver.
Any thoughts on that?
Same. I’ve spent a lot of time trying to dial this seat in. I think it’s worse for skinnier folk because there is less muscle mass between the hard foam and sciatic nerve.
I called the dealer where I bought mine from in NH before all this picked up momentum, they haven’t had any reports of this. They were super nice and said to bring it in next winter.
I have an email drafted for Mazda NA. I’ll wait for things to normalize before sending. Much more important...
As I noted to Avodin Deer, the wrench clicking at 100 ft/lbs does not let you know how over tightened they are. You really have to start over to ensure everything is torqued properly to the right spec in the right sequence.
I learned about proper lug tightening over 15 years ago when I started turning wrenches. I’ve been the only one to do wheel changes(winter setup) and rotations. I always tighten by hand using a torque wrench, so that’s not it.
I can see and feel the deposits on the rotors.
We had the same...
My 2019 GT-R has lightly “warped” rotors. I put warped in quotes because I know they’re not actually warped and just have an uneven distribution of pad material.
Anyway, with 15,800 on the clock, should the dealer cover resurfacing(if they even do that there)? Kind of bs to have this so early...
Cinder blocks are not meant for concentrated loads. Jack stands are. I would never get under a car that only has cinder blocks supporting it.
A hydraulic jack should never be the primary thing supporting a vehicle when working on it. It amazes me when I see garages lifting the entire side of...
I’ve been under a running car many times since I’ve been wrenching(~15 Years). I always have some redundancies in place though. Jack stands under the frame when it’s on ramps. Second set of jack stands along with leaving the hydraulic jack in place when it’s on stands. Things like that.
I’ve...
Totally possible. That’s also why I drive around it. In the warmer months I don’t even notice it because it reaches operating temp by my second stop and go out of the neighborhood.
I haven’t. Crawling under it while it’s not elevated, running and blindly pulling a dipstick isn’t exactly appealing.
I have one set of stacked 2X10 that i use to drive onto to get enough clearance to lift vehicles up from the cross member. I plan on building another set so that I can get the...
