...Conti DWS 06 previously and they were/are good tires. However, when I recently needed tires for our CX9, I went with the fairly new PirelliScorpion AS + 3s based on reviews and price. Have a little over 5k on them and no regrets. Getting good wear, quiet, good handling. You don't need the...
In the car stock tire size 225 55 19 -> Michelin pilot sport 4 A/S if money is not a problem.
PirelliScorpion Zero AS Plus 3 is also good option. Those are top tiers. Going mid level there are more options.
How do you like them? Too late to ask, probably, since I just ordered a set myself - getting them Tuesday. They seem like a good compromise on handling, wet traction, and noise ... according to the web :)
PirelliScorpion Zero AS Plus 3 and Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus are at the top of my personal list. It really comes down to what you want your tires to do - Tire Rack’s site will let you prioritize different aspects of customers’ ratings to help you find what best fits your needs.
Once you get some miles on them and a feel for these tires let me know what you think. I may get the same Conti's I have again. Never had Pirelli's before.
My two picks for you would be
PirelliScorpion AS plus 3 ($80 off a set through April 28th)
Continental Cross Contact LX25
I have the LX25 on our 2019 Signature and love everything about it except was unhappy with hydroplaning resistance. Besides that, a phenomenal tire.
I'll likely replace...
Seeing that the Cinturato WeatherActive does not come in that size you must be looking at the Scorpion WeatherActive which has a section width of 9.6". Add 0.4" for the 1" increase over that tire's measured rim width and you get a 10.0" section width. That is not going to be stretched. Wheel...
Continental publishes a wheel width of 6.0-8.5 inches for the 235/65-r17 CC LX25. I'm a huge fan of Conti tires. You will be just fine on a 7-inch wheel. Yes, you may feel a very slight reduction in takeoff peppiness, but you may get better gas mileage as well with a bigger diameter tire. You...
I have both of these tires. The Pirellis on our CX-5 and the Conti's on my CX-50. The Conti's have better handling, but then they are lower profile (20" wheels). Both have much better ride than the original tires on the cars.
...and contrary to most low mileage claims, we got just over 40k miles on them before replacing. We replaced with Tire Rack top rated PirelliScorpion AS +3 and have no complaints. Have about 8k on them now, good handling dry and wet, quiet, and wearing well. Previously had the Conti DWS 06 on...
Any particular factors driving you towards the Pirelli?
Good to know about hydroplaned resistance though. So CX-5 with them was more prone to hydroplaning?
I just went through a similar search, looking for a three season tire.
My choice was the PIRELLI P ZERO AS PLUS 3, (not the Scorpion variant).
This was not just a tire change, but a wheel size change (19>18), so the results are muddied,
but I am pleased with the choice.
The most important...
