VAC leak VAC leak Vac Leak
Ive had lots of experiences with this issue.
i had the same issue after i deleted the manifold butterflies. Bouncing idle and near stalling. I could not find find the vac leak. I took it over to a friend of mine and he found it right away. I had connected the vacuum...
I dunno if that would be such a good idea map gas is suppose to be more volatile i think. If you don't feel comfortable don't do it.
Propane is the safest thing to use.
a broken or loose coupler could still be a cause.
take a propane torch (dont light it LOL) and stick it around intake manifold, vac lines, anything pre MAF and see if the engine note changes.
Before you decide to buy the MAF, ive seen lots of people buy MAF sensor and it ends up being hose...
yes most likely is a vac leak, what you're experiencing is exactly what cars with mass airflow sensor do when unmeasured air is entering the engine. The computer get stuck in this loop.
next time it does that try un plugging the mass airflow sensor, it will start to run really rich since itll go into crawl mode but if its stops the idle from going crazy, it has to be a vac leak. Or maybe the sensor it self which is rare to go bad.
as others have mentioned you will need to get the msp radiator to run the msp stock intercooler.
My advice would be to just put in a front mount from the start. its pretty easy to piece together with a cheap piping kit, and a z-line mishimoto intercooler. You will also need a BOV or BPV. I have...

I also have an msp downpipe (s pipe) ill be adding to the list tomorrow, also in good condition.
its easy to pull the trans by your self. The only tricky part is lining it back up to install it, for that i needed some help im just not strong enough to maneuver it with limited space. the higher you can get the car up the better to give you more room to work. But at the very lest you'll need...
Very strange. Can you see what head casting you have?
According to this 1998 was the FS9 cylinder head revision/redesign. After that FS came with solid lifters.

Also i remember seeing some new open box wiseco pistons on the FS section.
whats wrong with your original bpv?
if there isnt anything wrong just leave it as is.
normally an ebay bov is just going to be a head ache, some times they turn out ok. But most of the time they'll leak and cause compressor surge, which will wear your turbo down.
installation is straight...
