Just found out that Costco's oil is made by the same folks as Amazon's oil: Warren Oil Company. Right now Costco's 0W-20 full synthetic SN+ oil is $26.99 delivered for 2 5-quart jugs vs $22.99 for 1 5-quart jug of Amazon basics oil.
You should check with Mazda and see if their floor mats have the same part numbers for the 20s and 21s. If they do, then you can be pretty much assured that nothing has changed dimension-wise.
I've been super happy with my Yokohama YK740GTX tires. Great handling tires, as comfortable as anything is going to be in that size, but probably noisier than some others.
I installed the Gates tensioner too, before Dig did. I must say I haven't noticed anything unusual at all, but then again I'm not listening intently either as Dig is.
So after reading all of this and why I had so much trouble with the water pump belt, here's my theory. From the pics, Dig used the OEM Mazda belt. I did not, using a Dayco "stretch" belt which is designed to be stretched into place and then it will stay snug. When I compared it to my old belt...
Dang, you removed half the front end! :D
I only removed the one small splash guard. Looks like your serpentine belt had a rougher life than mine. Mine was perfectly fine, no cuts.
Now the fun starts! Good luck!
Ooops, my bad, I misunderstood your problem. I really don't know how to do what you're asking but as a general matter it seems like connectors like those usually rely on a small screwdriver placed in the right spot to disengage them. Sorry I couldn't help.
All you need to do to open the fuse box is press on the one clip that the yellow arrow is pointing to. I was standing by the drivers door when I took the pic, so left on the pic is to the front of the vehicle to help you get oriented. Just press the top part of the clip toward the fuse box to...
Yeah, those larger tools won't fit in there plus they are too wide to clamp on due to the "flying saucer" shape of our water pump pulley. And yes, you do rotate the crankshaft pulley clockwise which makes the 7:20-8 o'clock spot on the water pump pulley the critical spot for starting the belt...
Actually there ARE holes in the water pump pulley, at least in mine. I tried the thickest zip tie I had and it still broke (tried 3 times). Something that I saw online during this process said that you need a 3/8" wide zip tie to do it. That's pretty darn big, almost handcuff-sized big!
There...
I generally drive the assumed "standard" 12,000 miles a year, sometimes a bit more, this year a lot less. I just figure oil and filter change is a maintenance item that I do twice a year, spring and fall, and generally when I swap the winter tires on or off. I don't put too much thought into...
No I did not watch the mechanic so I don't know how he did it, just glad he did it!
To understand why you need a lift to accomplish this task, try doing this little exercise. Seriously, try it to see what I mean. Lay on your back and put both hands over your head, up about a foot or so, as if...
