I suspect that there are informal agreements among dealers in some areas to not discount above x% off MSRP. (Collusion, anyone?) In other areas, free market rules. The cars cost the dealers with like sales volumes the same, so why, otherwise, do discounts vary so much?
Don’t waste your time negotiating in person. You’re playing their game when you do.
Do all your “negotiating” via email with bid rounds with multiple dealers. Get initial quotes from all dealers you’re willing to buy from. Then give the rest of them the opportunity to beat the low bid. Rinse...
I’ve got 17k on my CX-5’s 19” True Contacts. Love ‘em.
My wife wore out a set of 17” True Contacts on her RAV4 in 40k miles. She loved ‘em too. Discount Tire prorated them 50% at 4/32nds wear towards a set of Continental Crosscontact LX-25’s which she likes even better. I’ll replace my TC’s...
27 is pretty much what I get on my 16,5 GT 2.5 NA. A bit less with snows, a bit more on summer road trips. Home driving is freeway, suburban, city in that order.
Pretty darn consistent. I use radar cruise extensively after jack rabbit starts. Lots of coasting to hypermile.
Total Stats Gal...
GV70 looks like a very nice vehicle. Can’t wait for trims, packages and pricing. If trims are similar to the GV80, I’d go for a 2.5T AWD Advanced for ~$49k MSRP, unless the CX-50 was comparable for ~$4-5k less.
I test drove a GV80 3.5T AWD Prestige and was quite impressed with the power, ride...
I’m waiting on the 2023 CX-50 before deciding what to buy next. Will be comparing the top trim vs a more expensive (?) Genesis GV-70 mid trim and the Santa Fe Ltd hybrid or PEV.
My understanding is that if you use CarPlay or Android Auto, and your car has Nav/SD card, the Car’s GPS is used. The built in antenna is much better than on a cellphone, providing much improved satellite reception.
If “Market Value” is MSRP (i .e., devoid of any bs “Market Adjustment” above MSRP), that is an excellent deal at 16% off.
We’re any incentives/rebates included? How much in savings?
Depends on the loan.
0%/low rate, No.
Market rate, yes, decent rebate.
Many/most state laws require no prepayment penalty for auto loans. Check you state laws.
If you wait a couple of months to prepay, the salesman/dealer will get their bonus for selling the high-rate loan.
I’d say...
I thought hard about an XC-60 last May. Not a fair comparison with a Sig, as the XC-40 would be. Loved the car, it had colors and packages I would have ordered, except for the lux package with massaging seats (more a question of cost than not liking it :-) ). I had a great offer - $10k off $58k...
I compared the Calligraphy trim to the SXPrestige AWD. Sorento was missing many features of interest. Differences I found:
SXP Has compact spare! (I think)
No 2nd row bench-Captains Chairs only
Has small 3rd row. - capacity 6
No rain sensing wipers
No remote parking
Bose vs HK Stereo
No...
I thought the LKAS in the 20 GTR I test drove last April sucked rocks. Hardly better than the lane warning in my 16.5 GT with I-active Sensing. Won’t buy a newer CX-5/-50 unless they include lane centering available in other markets.
I had high hopes for the Venza but was sorely disappointed...
Totally gutless. On a test drive with the 2.0l engine, I was unable to pass a cement truck on a 2-lane, downsloping freeway entrance ramp with it floored. Had to follow it on, tail tucked. Turned around and went back at the next exit. Good riddance!
For 2021, the upper 2 trims come with the...
