Thanks for the info guys, I will have decide which way I want to go. The four way Pioneers drew me in because I had a set in another car and was pleased with them. Phunky, you are probably right, especially given that I am mainly using the rears as "fill" and spending the money for better...
Look ma! I'm a one man thread! Is it reasonable to assume that a professional shop could make 6x9 speakers fit in the rear cargo area where the factory 6x8 speakers are now? I really don't like the options available in 6x8 speakers, no 4 ways at all and a lot of the other coaxials are too...
As long as the shock mounting bolts don't seize/rust into the wheelwell that is. One of the Canadians on here had one completely frozen in place and had to get medieval on its ass to get it out
Leaving the turbocharged 5 (one of only roughly three in the entire world) as your "daily driven beater/mule" right? LOL I don't suppose I could interest you in a 04 Subaru Forester NA build?
You could make yourself a fair bit of money offering your services to those of us who are 6' or taller! I would love about three more inches of rearward travel on my stock seat, to get my knees off the dash. Kudos to you for making the RX8 seats work out, they do like really nice in there.
Further digging (and reading) reveals that the Pioneer amp CAN be powered from the source line to the HU, as long as the HU has at least a 15amp fuse. Which means no separate power feed to the battery, or in cheap mans English, no amp wiring kit! I am a little leery of running the whole...
Is that just because the seats sit so much lower than the stockers? Or do the RX8 rails allow more rearward motion? They look fabulous either way, job well done man!
My accomplishment for today was mounting my Well Visors that I got for Christmas. Super easy, took about thirty minutes total...
I would suggest you get more forceful with the dealer/take it to corporate. DO NOT let them skate with the " it won't do it for us" BS i can assure you they won't be there for you if you get into an accident because of all this. Davicho' info would be good to pass on to their service manager...
The bits and pieces of my "system" for my 5. I have selected Polk db5251 5-1/4 for the front doors, Pioneer 6986r 6x9 4 ways for the rear, and a Pioneer GMD1004 45w x 4 amp to power same. This is all going to be connected to my existing Pioneer avh3100dvd HU which has served me very well. I'm...
If the local dealer won't help go to mazda corporate. Does the car stop normally during all this? Sounds sort of like a poor bleeding job, possible aggravated by loose fittings. Has there been any fluid leakage during all this?
I've had systems in a few past cars, and i very recently decided that i miss the quality of sound that comes with good speakers and amplification. I had thought i could live with the muddiness of the stock speakers with my Pioneer 3100dvd hu, but no. The good news seems to be that speakers and...
Oh dear God help me I have fallen off the wagon in a big way. I have spent the last three days on Crutchfield and Sonic Electronix looking at speakers and four channel amps. I figure if I'm gonna have her for at least another year I might as well go deaf driving her. That and I got the...
To all who would say that the "Nagare" Mazdas were funny looking. I respond with ^^^ Take at look at that one! Of course they ARE funny looking when they are STOCK :p
I thought the rule on British cars and oil leaks was that the only time they didn't leak oil was when they were empty? I kid. I grew up with an E type Jag and a TR6 in the driveway and oil leaks were the least of either cars issues. That you have two that do not leak is a testament to your...
Drover her to work for the first time this week (been driving the Subaru) Realized my gas mileage is in the crapper, probably time to get a new set of plugs and maybe an O2 sensor to boot. AFAIK the sensors on the car now are original with 211K on them, so I guess them needing replacement isn't...
Oh c'mon, all those oil changes and you haven't stripped the crap out of a fill plug, or over-tightened a filter? I'm ashamed to admit that the reason my Mazda drips oil is because I gorilla-ed the little drain plug on the filter housing pretty early on in my ownership of it. They are delicate...
