If it is more of a high pitched motor sound, its probably the power steering system, though I have never heard a clicking associated with that system engaging, or disengaging.

This is a known issue, do a search on " rear ac stopped working" There is an actuator on a little flap that cuts off the air going into the rear fan motor. IIRC either the actuator fails, or the linkage gets sticky from lack of use. Hth
