A majority of the oil will still drain down so worse case scenario put a rag down when you take the filter off. There will be minimal oil in the filter because of the location as opposed to where the stock location is
^ What's funny is that's what my wife said. I think I'll see if I can work another mini-vacation once it's running just so I can enjoy it for a little while. ;)
Received my windage tray and oil pan back from media blasting. I masked them off, primed, painted and installed them. So now all I have to do at this point is install my pulleys and time the engine and it'll be ready to drop in once I run up to NJ and pick up my transmission.
Also...
Buy a new OEM one more than likely, and biking I love having power tools. Should have bought them years ago, would've made things 100% easier for the tear down.
One more day of forced vacation means more time for the car. I got the subframe, master cylinder and a lot of other things out of the bay. I stripped all the rust off them and some spots in the bay then primed and painted.
When I removed the rear mount in order to take the engine out the...
Made a little bit of progress on the Protege today and hopefully a lot more in the next couple of days. Here are some things that have happened since my last update or that I may have forgot to mention.
1. Interior (dash/carpet/seats etc.) removed
2. Engine harness removed for rewiring
3...
I like the three wheeling!
Hopefully we see more BRC entries, looks like good competition this month. That prize should be having all the race fans trying to enter (headbang)
Preferio, are you running the Doc B setup and have you considered getting your oil pan baffled? Seems like a small investment to keep your MSP on the road.
So I got some time in the garage today and did a decent amount of work on the engine. Checked oil pump clearances, packed with white lithium grease, installed to block. I was also able to sneak the rear main seal in while on the engine stand but unfortunately broke one bolt because my torque...
Found it!!! ACL Race Series Bearings for the SR20DET will fit. P/N is 4b2960h. That's the ones I ordered and are currently sitting in my rebuilt engine in the garage. Once you find out your clearances everything should be perfect.
If you're doing all that work then I don't see the point of not getting rods and pistons. Also, if you're getting new bearings I would talk to Nate and get the P/N of the race bearings that ACL makes. I can't remember which vehicle they are actually for but they're not the OEM replacements so...
Aside from the fact that the lip pictured isn't even the correct lip, I'm sure the OP is looking for a quality piece instead of knock-off fiberglass pieces. I could be wrong but when it breaks in half in 1K miles no one's going to feel bad for you. IMHO...

That might help you choose! If you decide to "upgrade" to a full size radiator then it's only worth it if you get the Mishimoto rad. Which is why Preferio would have had cooling issues with just...
