NB, and yes there is a spare. I forgot that signatures usually aren't visible after one posts the first time in a thread.
And because I was posting this, probably caused me to have a flat today and have to use it for the first time. And sure enough the Miata owners' manual says to...
I've had to mount a compact spare on a car while out on the road (not at home) exactly one time in my 25 years of driving. My Integra had a front tire flat on the interstate. I decided to move a rear tire up front to ensure nothing bad happened from the mismatched tire sizes between the drive...
I've only ever had an issue with a plug once, on one of my Integra's 205/45-16 tires that picked up a nail about an inch from the edge of the sidewall. I would plug it and a few hundred miles later it would start leaking again. Plugged it over and over maybe 4 or 5 times. Finally took it to...
Awhile back I changed all the car's exterior bulbs, except head and fog lamps, to LED, all from superbrightleds.com. I went with the 7443 27-LED red bulbs for the rear main brake lights, but to my eyes there wasn't enough difference between the tail and brake light functions...
We seem to get at least 1 nail a year in every car. I always just plug them at home. Only takes a few minutes, and have had ZERO drawbacks from the past decade of doing so.
yeah, it basically makes that open top container of coolant become the highest point in the system, which makes it much more effective at getting any air pockets out. It also lets you run the engine with the coolant open, with plenty of room to expand. I used to HATE filling up and bleeding...
who the hell designs an engine block with no coolant drain?? That's really ridiculous and short-sighted IMHO. one could do the coolant flushing procedure shown in ChrisFix's videos. That would get pretty much all the old stuff out.
careful, sometimes the covers underneath an engine bay help direct air through the radiator. Miatas are known to suffer in the cooling department without the underbody plastics in place.
first I've heard about Skyactiv cylinder heads cracking. What are the symptoms when that happens?
Notice on my report that there is barely a trace or even zero for the fuel, water and coolant readings in the oil. So I'm confident my car's engine is still in good shape.
could have sworn I posted my latest the other day but I guess I didn't. This is from the oil that was in the engine during all my valve cover, oil seals and OCV replacement work a few months ago. I did not keep good records of how much oil was added during the previous OCI's, which is why this...
well, if it functions like the pedal commander graph shows, a small pedal press might produce a larger opening, such as 50% throttle at 30% pedal press. But then that last 50% throttle is spread out over the remaining 70% of pedal travel. That's what I meant by the top end feeling more...
I still say our recall service hatch struts are the same as the old ones. Before the service, the hatch would barely clear the open garage door bottom seal. After the service, it still clears the garage door seal by the same amount. If the hatch opens any less, it's only a few millimeters at...
I have the lifetime alignment deal at my local Firestone. I've had the alignment adjusted 2 or 3 times now, most recently just after I had new tires installed at a different retailer. Never had any issues, and after the first time the car was definitely improved.
I always just take it up...
I've heard that with these devices, if you set the throttle to be any more sensitive than just straight linear 0 to 100%, then the car ends up feeling slower up top. You press the pedal part way, the throttle plate opens more than that same corresponding amount, leaving not much left of the...
man you really need to remove that attachment and black out your personal info.
Took a long time to get my last report. Blackstone website says there have been reports of issues with the handling of the sample kits (black bottle with mailing label on the outside).
I just got some more sample...
so that requires a total of 5 "lifts" with wheel remove/replace, plus getting the spare tire out and putting it back away again. I guess it's not terrible, but I was changing the oil at the same time which is why I went ahead and just put it on 4 jack stands.
yes sir, a razor blade, or more specifically a razor scraper. I never use a single-edge blade by itself, which I've seen in many YouTube videos and don't understand why people do that. Works totally fine if you work carefully. I've never had an issue with it. 8 months since re-sealing the...
Saturday I did a two'fer, oil change and tire rotation. Getting this car up on 4 jack stands is quite difficult, maybe because of the car's size and height compared to my other cars. I tried using my Flyin Miata slotted jack pad to lift the side of the car from the center of the side pinch...
