Interesting point OP. I notice my specific 0w20 are harder to come by due to covid/inventory issues ect.
I could be wrong but Shell's Pennzoil Platinum line of oils are made from natural gas......not sure how much crude oil they use?
Oh ok. Likely some melted snow got in the connections. You can dry out the connections using some electrical contact cleaner aerosol spray.
If that solves it you probably want to protect those connections from the elements with some electrical tape.
36 is driver side airbag. Likely a connection is loose.
Look under the driver's seat and check for any loose wire connections with a flashlight. Someone or something hit a wire.
Also, did you spill water or get melted snow under the driver's seat? If so you got moisture in the connections...
I got the OCI maintenance reminder message to change oil........but the oil is only 4 months old at aprox. 5k miles. I checked and the computer is saying oil is at 60% life.
A bit too soon imho.
If I was hired to bring in more dealer revenue I'd design the dip stick to include marks:
Low- Visit you dealer ASAP
High- Visit your dealer ASAP
Middle- If you're reading this yeah visit you dealership ASAP.
We have to also consider different manufacturers makes and different engines within said makes. Over the course of time they may issue TSBs on how to use the dip stick. Perhaps even change the actual design of the dip stick. Prime example were the 1.5l turbos in CRVs when they were having oil...
People in general report certain oils cause them to burn more oil then others. I haven't had this experience UNTIL I tried Amsoil Signature 0w20 which was supposed to be really great oil. It was the only oil that caused the low oil indicator to go off. Never had issues with any other oil. But...
What oil brand are you using causing the level to go low?
Also, when doing an oil change do you put oil in the new filter prior to twisting it on the engine?
Check/clean battery terminals and change car battery. The battery is good enough to start car.........but requires better than 75% cell efficiency to support all the electronics. There's tons on the Mazda.
Perhaps the sweet spot is at 7,500 miles or 1 year. That's roughly what I've been doing the past 10 years.
I'm currently testing out the Mazda built in oil life indicator which involves the car's computer ECU to track changes inside the engine. It will display to you the current oil life...
