As far as I remember from my research the new diff's are just reinforced welded to the gear. I can weld it better than stock after drilling the out rivets (if you can call them that). I have the ability to be able to make sure the welds are pretty well balanced on the diff. I'm not too worried...

Don't really want to purchase one when I can perfectly weld the one I have. Just need to make sure all the pieces are there.

Does anyone have an idea as to what's inside an LSD? Is it basically like a standard diff just works differently. Basically are there any parts that could "fall out" when the pieces separate and need welding.
