I've had mine start to kick in a couple of times approaching a stop sign with a car ahead that's starting to pull into the intersection and I'm trying to glide to the line for a stop; first time startled me. It's similar to anti-lock brake engagement.

If your car has auto trans, put car in N & emergency brake on, push start/stop button -- only engine will turn off. Then shift to P. You will have to press start/stop (no foot on brake) to roll up windows after finishing your radio program.
What I find odd is not that there's still some flow from the vents when the HVAC is off, but that it seems to still be cool, even when the outside air is 90+ running through the hot engine compartment.
To clarify for those just joining this discussion, the 2013 model year sold in the U.S. does NOT have the problem described here (not resuming playback on USB-connected devices), the 2014 model year CX-5s DO have this problem, and, yes, it's a PROBLEM (defect, design flaw, whatever, just fix it...
OK, so on one of my many attempts this afternoon, instead of waiting after pressing start twice (with foot off brake) for the car to run all its diagnostics, etc., I began the procedure right away; about halfway through the pressing of the hazard switch I realized that the hazards hadn't been...
One thought has occurred to me, and that is that every attempt I've made has been in a garage, which causes my headlights to come on when switching through the auto position. I guess I'll have to try it outdoors to see if that has any bearing.
This is exactly my experience (note that per the instructions, I turn light switch to parking, not all the way to on). I have also tried switching into neutral before executing the procedure, but also without success.
From the OM:
This is why these instructions puzzle me, especially Step 7, because no mention is made of what gear the car is in, and Step 7 won't work if the car is in park.
Is it possible these instructions are missing a step? I ask because I tried them without success, but something about Step 7 (confirm DRL setting) seems off. It says verify by releasing the parking brake; if DRL is activated DRL will come on with park brake off and go off when park brake is on...
I definitely do not want headlight brightness, but I wouldn't want the LEDs to be significantly dimmer than stock. I mean, DRLs are essentially safety equipment, so I wouldn't want to reduce their effectiveness.
Been meaning to follow up on this about brightness. I understand the lights will be whiter than stock, but are they as bright as stock? Brighter? Less bright?
