Here is my experience:
I installed Eibach ProKits about at about 80K miles. OEM struts dampened them fine and the ride was nice. No bouncing, chattering and seemed to be a great setup. Now, 7K mi later the front struts gave out and started leaking. I've noticed them getting worse and now I don't...
So who's gone from perfect condition OEM KYB to Tokico HP on the same set of springs? I'm wondering if it is really worth it or if it is just been reiterated so much that the 'forum' believes it?
I can see moving to adjustable Illumina type struts, but I'm beginning to wonder if the Tokicos are...
Now I'm beginning to wonder if I should just stick with the OEM fronts too. It would certainly be cheaper and the handling was fine before the 80K mile oem struts started leaking.
Also, by my hand-dyno method, the oem KYB front struts seem just a tad stiffer than the Tokicos, but the Tokico blues I have are a little older than the oem KYB.
Not sure this means anything as struts have multiple levels of damping - high speed bumps, low speed bumps and differences in bound...
You can test that fairly easily now can't you? ;)
You'll be driving inconsistent mileage because it's a real world test and some days are better than others. Heat, wind, rain, traffic etc all affect it for a +/- %. Just do what you think best and enjoy the drive.
Often they do, but the change isn't usually that drastic.
Like i said, a lot of times the change you experience is the change from a dirty engine in need of upkeep and one that has just received a little freshening.
If your car was in tip top shape with clean injectors, no carbon buildup, new...
Rear struts:
The OEM rears on my P5 are Tokico and have the exact same number stamped on them as the Tokico blues. The only difference I see is a beefier sway bar bracket (nice if I choose aftermarket sway) and the strut body is taller by like an inch or more.
This equates, as I see it, to a...
i think it sprays up but mostly it comes from the windshield area. The water drains everything down there. When the drip rails get clogged everything stacks up.
consider it weight reduction
my problem with the ants on the miata was that this time of year the ants go crazy. The sap from the trees mists on the car surface and the ants climb around the outside to get it. But if they can get in they will eventually. I used to hose my car off on my way to work to get the ants off, but...
It's amazing how much stuff accumulates in the wheel wells.
It can't be hit with the hose when you are washing the car. If you park outside with all the leaves falling all the time it is worse than if you garage it.
I cleaned mine out, luckily nothing was growing/living in there.
Here's pics...
Thanks. So VHT was used there. Better than Duplicolor?
Gunmetal or stick with stock Silver? I think a darker silver would actually look really nice. In between gunmetal and silver...
I've got some silver MSP racing harts that have some rash. I'm going to refurb them. Any suggestions on a good brand of paint/primer etc to go with? Who's had good luck with Duplicolor wheel paints?
What sort of finish is on the silver stock? It doesn't seem like powdercoat.
I like the darker...
