K1 has two lengths of the fs. 5.4 and 5.315 inches.
The rods and pistons are interchangable.
The pistons of the z6 are 3mm "shorter" and are slightly dished. So with the fs 5.4 and the z6 pistons you have ~1mm bigger deck clearence(I dont remember exactly and I am from mobile) but you have also...
For the last time, there was no detonation. The pistons were clear with no signs of detonation.
Why is this the second time that I am explaining this?
And just to inform you, aluminum bits of the piston #3 were found in all the other cylinders. That you can't see it because I've cleaned them...
;)
I bought a Z6 engine instead of the ZY (it was also cheaper) ;)
I found out that the Z6 was using the FS rods back in 2008 when I was fooling around with the Mazda EPC.
The interesting thing is that there is also a longer variant of H beam rods for the FS(137mm vs 135mm of the stock FS rod)...
You watched wheeler dealers :p
By porting and polishing the head can flow more air/gas, BUT, all depend from the setup of the motor, camshafts, cam timming, etc.
So maybe the head can flow the air needed for the 150hp but it is not sure that the current setup could accomplish that.
Today I dropped the engine and tear it apart.
The broken rod(last in the picture) is the 3rd cylinder and and the bended one(3rd in the picture) is from the 4th cylinder.
I found many bits from the broken piston tou all the other cylinders.(in the picture I've cleaned them)
yes, i was expecting it.
the important think is to have information of many things that someone should know when he will turbocharged the 2. For now, we learned about the connecting rods, next station, gearbox :p
It will be up and running pretty soon :)
