There's also a significant ammount to be lost with a dash weight reduction... but you really have to be careful about beginning to strip the interior. Many states have specific inspection requirements for interior panels and trim. Also in doing so, you're making your daily driver all the less...
My 1999 ES is putting down about 200 to the wheels. But then again, it's not the original 1.8 platform, it's the 2.0 msp :D
But then again, you don't have to worry about throwing a rod through your block, or your LSD crapping out at any given time. Fair trade I guess lol.

Painting your calipers a subtle color (like silver or black) for the purpose of making them appear clean and to get rid of the nastiness they develop over time is an excellent reason.
A few words of advice though for everyone. Don't paint your rotors, and if you're going to paint your calipers...

You don't have a big-brake kit, and the p5 (obviously) is not in the consumer class to come with brakes worthy of being flashy.
