+1 one on that get everything you can sell what you don't need. Offer him 400-500 see what he says tell him your in a bind for cash. If he laughs go from there just be diplomatic about it. He may be wanting to get rid of it and that is a good price for him.
Well I needed to get the head checked out anyways of course though I never overheated it and visiual inspection looked good. I wish I had a long elaborate I just spent 2 grand on a "port and polish/valves etc. job" but in reality I just had a friend there do some under the table polishing for me...
Had a head gasket leak issue so it was a good excuse to send the head out for some work. Just got the head back from the machine shop this morning. Hope that everything gets back together late this afternoon. Almost there!
My Advice or opinion I should say. Disconnect it where I circled in blue and thow the race pipe or section that is missing the flange away. It is trash. Getting another flange welded on there just right will be a pain and who knows how bad that connection got damaged when it came apart going...
That racepipe came with a flange on the back. There was a time when some of htem were breaking off becasue they were not welded properly. That one is missing. Here is what I'm talking about. LINK

Last time I put a long breaker bar on the bolt and had the handle up against the FRAME and just quickly turned the ignition on and off to move the starter, wich of course in turn spins the bolt loose. (Check it for being loose with every try!!! Quick ingintion on and off!) It works great but...
Its just a pipe that says cobb on it what s the big deal?....oh yea that whole horsepower gain thing. Remember that it is against the law to use any sort of traction control after downpipe mods. ;P

I have friends on home made systems and beat up hondas that get really good results gas mileage wise. I was not impressed with how safe their home setups are. * I have not yet been able to justify one of those systems, or the cost of a manufactured one. There is going to be a push soon...
