OK I'll jump in. On the last move is the Mazda near any type of equipment that may produce a lot of electrical noise. Heavy motor, florescent light, LED light ETC...? Possibly interfering with the communication system the fob/auto uses. If so try pushing it somewhere else and try again. Grasping...
Same thing happened to me. I decided to take off the panel and brought it inside to dry it out. That gave inside the door a chance to dry also. Used one of the you tube videos for removal. Everything was OK when panel put back in service. Carpet and seat took a while. Had to use towels and...
I get a clunk many times when I first turn the wheel after a start. Actually it's more of a feel in the wheel than a clunk. Hiccup? My theory is it has something to due with the power steering system getting to where it wants to be. I believe my 2015 did it too.

Here's my theory. Refresh battery disconnect. Transmission reset. It is now learning how you drive. When that learning part is complete hesitation will return.

Is it possible to get to the rocker arm with a fiber optic scope of some kind via the oil fill hole? They do so much with these in the human body etc. Find it hard to believe there isn't something for mechanical things.
