This was a Blue (I think) one and sounded bone stock. If you're getting trolled by a yellow one with a black hood and deck lid, I know exactly who that is.
A 5-speed Slobalt tried pulling on me tonight at a stop light... I won, with the bad 4-auto. By no means was it at all aggressive, but it did give me a chuckle.
NEW TIRES!!!!!!
I finally have a matching set that drive on surfaces other than bone dry concrete. I've had a productive winter break! Back to classes on Monday. :(
I was finally able to locate the harness I got with my HID kit and got it installed, albeit 6 months later... but no more flickering!!! It only took one 22oz beer! :)
However, I managed to discover the "drip box" or whatever you want to call it below the air filter box. How did I find it, you...
Oil change... FINALLY!!!!! I think my oil pan is leaking though, but I'm still not 100% sure if it's from the oil pan or everything that was running down the engine from the valve cover gasket that took a s***. I'll be keeping an eye on it.
In other news, my mom sold her old '98 Neon...
So, I went out this morning to start my car and scrape her off... after running for about 10 minutes, whilst scraping, I hear nothing. I look into the window and see that the car has completely shut off. I go to start her back up and all I get is a "TINK" from the starter solenoid. No...
Don't worry, I have 2 tires getting ready to show belts due to leaking beads and a valve stem. Dumped in a bottle of Slime and pumped them to 36psi to get me through the month until I get some more money$$$$$. I already replaced one tire a few months ago for the same reason, but beyond...
Changing color in the Protege's cluster takes a lot of modification other than just picking an LED color. There is a red film on the back of the gauge faces that has to be sanded off, but it's not as easy as just taking off the needles and motors, due to the need to calibrate the motor...
Anybody know what size load resistor we need for our turn signals? I'm doing my Christmas shopping. I don't have a clue. I'm getting everything from DDM and they have 25ohm/25W, 6ohm/30W, & 6ohm/50W.
?????
Sadly, I didn't get a chance to give the P5 one last GOOD wash before the cold hits. We're due for low 40's all week then down into the 20's next week, so I guess I'm stuck with the crappy gas station wash. No good wax to finish her off either. :( Sad days.
Valve cover update: I'm 85% sure...
I actually haven't had an oil change for about 7,000 miles. I know, bad me. I just got done with an insane semester... which is why the oil is being changed next week. I need to rest a little.
The gasket is from Autozone. I asked for sealant, but the guy said the rubber Felpro gaskets don't...
What should have taken about 30 minutes, ended up taking an hour and a half. Either this was the factory gasket, or whoever changed it last used WAY too much sealant. I spent a good hour cleaning up the head and cover with a razor blade and brake cleaner. And, as promised, some pictures...
Direct fit ones run $110 upstream and $104 downstream from Autozone. Now, they have universal sensors for like $65/per that require wire splicing, but I'm not down with that.
Yeah, that's what I decided I'm going to do. I don't feel like dumping $100 into something that might not be the issue. I'm getting started soon on the gasket. I'll take some pics for everyone and we can see what it looks like under that cover. Knowing the luck I've had with cars, there will...
