At the risk of too many posts, I tested an EX-L and GT today. I'd driven both but not at the same time and same route. I got stuck in a Sport vs EX-L once, and then drove the cars at different places the other time. This time, same route, precisely.
I have one disclaimer. The Honda...
They'l be fine. I'd be amazed if Mazda came in low somehow.
As someone looking at the two, and leaning Honda actually, most of those items didn't even trigger for me. But I'm weird, I once traded in a Speed6 for an Altima Hybrid. On the other hand, given the cost of keeping the Speed6 on...
More than once I've hit the brake and gas pedal at the same time, usually when a quick stop is in order. The car has always stopped but it's weird to be pressing both at the same time. Scares me every time it happens too. I do wear a 12 2E but that's not, THAT BIG!
And that's all I have to...
This thread has gone far afield. Anyways, FWIW, in my digging, I'm pretty far into the weeds at this point, I noticed a couple of things, which are probably obvious to you all.
The Honda CR-V holds it's value substantially better. Comparing my Touring to a roughly comparable CR-V the CR-V is...
In complete seriousness, this car swoops into a spot at the local supermarket bigly good. I think it was built for this purpose.
When I bought the CX-5 I took on the infamous 10 minute test drive, spun it around a parking lot a bit and I remember thinking "a bit loud but I can live with it"...
I have a 15 and the noise is what got me to look at the 17. When I test drove it I could tell in the dealers lot that it was quieter than my 15. On the road, yes, it's quieter but it's still a crossover.
The 15 scoots around corners, turns in the parking lot on a dime, etc. The 17, which...
I don't think we're debating that those are the actual invoice prices, instead, what we're saying is that the invoice no longer has any resemblance to the actual cost that a dealer pays for a car. In other words, it's meaningless.
It's a good read.
I read it a few weeks ago when I noticed that Mazda was claiming that there was less than 3% gross profit on the CX5 and WTF symbols appeared above my head
From reading Truecar you'd swear that none of these cars will go for less than $500 above invoice. But with only $900 of gross profit, which would barely be enough to even pay the salespeople by itself, there's got to be a lot of holdback or something on these cars. It's almost as if you can't...
Took another run at the CRV. DB meter hit 91, so something was off, definitely not 91. The CRV was, comfortable, although something I didn't notice the first time was the head room, there's space, at least an inch, but a good bounce and I don't know. Lot more headroom in my 2015. I think the...
Had a family get-together yesterday. One of them came from a couple of hundred miles away. They live up in the hills, probably away from cell service, so satellite nav is probably a good thing for them. Of course, the restaurant we met at had moved a couple of months earlier so they were a...
FWIW, I compared the Touring with the Grand Touring for my needs. I went to mazdausa.com, highlighted and copied all the items, put them in excel, searched for duplicates and what I came up with is below. It's sorted to my tastes, YMMV, and it makes a pretty compelling case not to get a GT...
I rarely see CRV's where I live but the last couple of days I've driven to work next to a CX-5 the same color as mine. There are several in the city where I live as well. I rarely see CRV's and I've been looking, but, the older models are pretty plain to me so maybe I just don't notice them.
I'm fine with a living hell for car salespeople. They do it to us, so have at it. I think this would be fun in that respect.
I used to work in the lumber industry although I'm a tech guy and still can't tell red from white oak. One of our problems is that guys would come in, want a price...
Just so I understand. You want the dealer to produce 17" tires out of thin air for you, then take the 19" tires off the car, which for all practical purposes might as well be rocks at that point, because they can't put those on a Sport and call the Sport new, and you want a discount. So, $500...
That's better than the mazdausa site. The differences aren't that large, I don't need to see that they have the same engine, etc., just what's different.
Anyways, thank you!
Regarding CX5 trims, I've yet to find a clean trim comparison amongst them. Mazda's site has a bullet point list, of everything, and I was able to find a couple of comparisons, again, with everything, but I haven't seen something to the effect of,
Sport
Lists a bunch of features
Touring...
I would be, and so would my parents.
My father has macular degeneration. He can legally drive but probably not for much longer.
My mother lost her reflexes, was dangerous on the road, and we finally pulled the plug on her car. Self-driving would have helped her.
Me, I'd happily let a car...
