Based on my experiences, don't use tweaks.sh; use the .zip file. The only changes made are disabling the speed restriction on use of the touchscreen and shortening the time the warning stays on the screen after the car is started. Some have reported the tweaks persist after a dealer update of...
Thanks for your experimentation. Since it looks like you need resistors to get the turn signals to flash properly, I think I'll just leave the stock filament bulbs in.
The ZIP file downloaded fine on a Windows machine. Decompressed to a freshly formatted USB drive and plugged it in. Within about a minute I got a message on the screen than the file was installed. I can now use the touch screen while the car is moving. I don't know if anyone has got the .txt...
Did you get the zip file from the New Zealand download site? All I got was a download failure message. I was using Safari on OS X. Let me try again tonight on a Windows machine.
It seems like those who got the tweak to work started with Apply_Tweaks_USB.zip. I tried with tweaks.sh.txt and have had no success (yes, I deleted .txt). The link to Apply_Tweaks_USB.zip on the Mazda 3 site leads to a New Zealand file sharing site which won't let me download the file. Can...
I know legend and lore says to change your oil and filter every 5000 miles, but does anyone have any objective evidence that doing so increases the life of the engine versus using the factory recommended interval, which is 7500 miles for my US '16. A Consumer's Report test many years ago...
The guy who put on my paint protection film said any wax or sealant would be fine so long as the container doesn't say something like: Warning--Contains Petroleum Distillates. A lot of the mass market wax and sealant products do have this warning, but it's not hard to find a specialty product...
I renamed the file on an OSX machine, but did the format on a Windows computer. I never saw a message "tweaks applied". Where does it appear? I think the nav screen was on when I drove for about 15 minutes after inserting the USB drive. Should I insert the drive after the car is running or...
The V.55 update went fine, but I can't get the tweaks file to work. I copied the .txt file to a FAT32 formatted USB stick and then renamed it tweaks.sh. I plugged it in and the light on the USB drive blinked for a few seconds, but nothing else seemed to happen. I still can't use the touch screen...
A couple of weeks ago I did a track day sponsored by a local Porsche dealer. During one of the lapping sessions the instructor drove a twin turbo Macan and he set a pace us amateurs driving sports cars had a hard time keeping up with. If money were no object, the Macan would be my choice in a...
I'm not sure there is 7444 compatible bulb available with built in resistors. I did find a website with maybe 20 different types of LED flasher modules, so I'm guessing that if I can find the flasher module, I can probably find a match.
OK, here are the LED's with built resistors: http://store.ijdmtoy.com/No-Resistor-Required-7440-LED-Turn-Signal-Bulbs-p/20-025.htm
These will only work in turn signal applications and cannot run continuously. The front turn signals on the '16 GT with LED headlights are dual filament 7444, with...
I think there are a couple of LED's sold that do have built resistors, but based on the reviews, I don't think the units linked in the post above are those units.
This site seems to have the bulbs the CX-5 uses:

They might work fine without either a resistor or special flasher, but no one here has reported trying to replace the turn signals with LED's, so that's still an open question.
I'm thinking of putting LED's into the front and rear turn signals of my 2016 GT with the tech package. Rather than trying to mount load resistors, I thought I'd just replace the flasher module with one compatible with LED's. The problem is is that I have no idea where the flasher module is. If...
