just did my first oil change, and agreed with other CX-5 owners : the easiest oil job ever.
one question, did anyone do this without ramps ? I tried but there wasn't enough space for me....
only hiccup was I had a very hard time getting the old aluminum crush washer off the drain plug...
yrwei52, did you ever get your NAV system fixed under warranty ?
my NAV system had a black screen last night, I had to shut down the car and reboot and it worked again.
I may be wrong, but if Voltage =I (current) * R (resistance) ,
adding a resistor in series, it will increase the total resistance which will then reduce the voltage
being supplied to the LED and thus making it dimmer than it should be.
so yes, the fellow who put the resistor in series may...
8mm Hex allen key (see video)
I recommend just getting the whole kit from our forum sponsor Med Center Mazda, they supply the 5 qt. Skyactiv moly oil (the same oil they put in new CX-5's (I figure it's optimized for max mpg with the extra moly in it), new filter, and new crush washer...
this is for a straight GT AWD right ? no LED headlight/tailight, no tech package (city brake, lane departure, etc) ....
are you planning to keep the car for more than 3 years? what is dealer offering for 7yr/100K extended warranty?
do you need remote start for winter, DO NOT get the mobile...
agreed, very cool, this is like porn for mechanical / industrial engineers, LOL
it would be very interesting to see the reliability statistics of robotic assembly cars vs "handmade" cars.
yep same here, 2016 cx-5, first really cold weather of the season, and I can hear a very slight low squeaking... exactly as jnasir described:
"2016 CX-5 Grand Touring AWD. Brakes only squealing from the rear when lightly applying the brakes and at slow speeds. Also, when releasing the brakes...
Installing switchback resistors to fix hyperflashing
Hi, I received some requests to show how to connect the switchback resistors to prevent hyperflashing, here you go:
first thing, you need to get 50W 6 ohm resistor, readily available on Amazon or eBay, I added additional heatsinking...
yes, those are the right ones: 50W 6 Ohms,
connect parallel to the black ground wire and turn signal wire (don't connect to constant 12V parking lights wire, it won;t fix the hyperflash and the resistor will get really hot),
see video, the CX-5 front turn socket has the three wire type...
I like it ! solves a problem without spending a lot of money, ingenuity at work ,
my problem is snow in the winter so needed something to catch all the melted snow ,
so had to bite the bullet and spend a little money for the weathertechs, they cover that footrest area as well...
just my .02 cents, for those with squealing brakes, for my previous car I washed the rims religiously and found out the hard way those spray on cleaners/degreasers for brake dust and road grime aren't really good for brakes and rotors, right after washing the rims with those cleaners, I always...
Good point Unobtanium, I think we're ok with the CX-5, when I checked the location of the Cx-5 drip hole,
it is behind a heat shield with no obstructions or exhaust underneath, and
way clear of the exhaust pipe and oxygen sensor (you can see in photo below)
so we're all good, the water...
I'm assuming you're concerned about dripping water from outside under the car right ?
not inside the passenger cabin (if so, then you have a clogged AC drain)
if dripping water is outside under the car then this is completely normal,
it's the condensation water from the AC unit.
I'd be...
