Have most people here with a CX5 replaced their TPMS battery after a certain number of years? Have not seen that talked about here. I noticed in the manual it says a blinking low pressure light means the battery is low but mine was not blinking.
Thanks for the link...will check it out.
2018 CX5. While we were near the end of a 300-mile road trip, the low tire pressure light beeped and illuminated. Pulled over and check the tires. All at 38 psi. Turned car on and off. Light stayed on. Drove 1 mile and light went off.
When we got home rechecked all 4 tires and all were still...
I check it after our 2018 sits overnight. But, one side of the stick is still all covered with oil but the other side shows the level clearly. Check both sides!
And as far as anyone knows, there has been no revision of the head in the 2.5L NA, which is still being used in the CX5s built today (& others like the CX-50). So, these engines could crack open like an egg all day long.
Interesting. I wonder if this situation starts off as a small crack that then becomes apparent over time, or if just one day the head suddenly cracks open spilling huge amounts of oil.
True. I haven't seen a car overheat in 30 years! Maybe running the car in very hot condtions does it? Or maybe when CD kicks in the head is running at different temps and the temp differential does it?
The Writer said it overheats because people don't keep an eye on their coolant and it gets...
So had an oil change at the Dealer today and asked about the cracked heads in the NA 2.5 L. They said they have seen very few, maybe 1. And that they believe it's from overheating the engine. Service Writer said it's his understanding that excessive heat is causing the heads to crack.
Have any...
Interesting! I am surprised the Service Manager said anything! Usually if you ask the service dept if they have ever seen a particular issue whey will say no! or you're the first one! I'm going to ask my service dept the same question next time I'm there and see what they say.
Because of the potential head crack since our powertrain warrantee is over. Otherwise, would not be considering it since our 2018 has only 36K miles and has been a great SUV!
Yes, we really like the ride and handling of our CX5 and I know this issue with the heads is affecting a small % of owners. Hoping before I pull the trigger and trade it in Mazda extends the warrantee for this issue. This would greatly improve our peace of mind!
"Great" to hear cracks are still occurring. We are about to take a 1500-mile road trip with our 2018 CX5 with 36k miles. I have little confidence in this car. Shame. Mazda needs to extend their warrantee on these heads.
Would like to purchase a new Mazda but reading that the NA 2.5 and the 2.5 Turbos have had issues with cracking of the heads. Are there any new Mazdas that don't have these "time bomb" engines?
