the accessorizing never ends! although i think i'm pretty much at the limit now without being too over the top.
They are actually aluminum covers that go right over the buttons...they look very oem and allows it to still light up at night which i really like.
The center dash seemed a bit too plain with black plastic buttons, so added Some aluminum covers for the e-brake and hold buttons.
You can order in 3 different colors,

mine is hidden away from view, i believe the installer either tucked it underneath the headliner or along the driverside footwell. Works very well and it's very clean without any antenna showing.
i wish mazda would implement the radio station display as you mentioned, that would be great!
currently if you change radio stations, there is no change or notification on the infotainment system UNLESS you're in the music screen...bleh!
hmmmm wonder if the new cx-30 and mazda3 infotainment...
coming up soon...and more than likely the only way you're going to spot any differences, if any, is if you see it in person and not by photos. but i will post them up.
just an update, it's been about 3mos since i got this installed on my rear bumper area,

i had my installer do it, but it was pretty straight forward, no need to even remove the bumpers to gain access. I had it wired to my fuse box in the engine bay, so it turns on with ignition, you can also have it wired to your parking lights, so it'll power on when your headlights are fully on...
