Call IIHS or email them and they will verify your concerns. Also, if you look closely at the pictures the center headrest is a different design than the shorter headrests. It is thicker and projects further into the compartment than the shorter Euro versions.
IIHS tests the front driver and...
One has to lift them almost 6" to make them the same height as the factory headrests.
"As long as you adjust the height properly" is the key here. Hopefully everyone remembers to do so but I doubt that this will be enforced 100% of the time, especially with life and how hectic things get with...
None of the built vehicles had the color and options I wanted. Soul Red with parchment interior, AWD, GT, i-ActivSense, etc. Most were FWD and the only AWD they had were missing the Soul Red and Parchment interior, the rest were missing the i-ActivSense option.
What the GT package offers is the optional i-ActivSense option which provides the Smart City Braking and Smart Braking which will stop the car by itself if it senses a collision is very probable.
In "SPORT" mode the transmission holds gears longer and it's more aggressive but it's actually TOO aggressive and shifting out back into NORMAL mode needs to be done when on the highway.
Dealer said my car went from scheduled to "produced" so I am assuming it's ready to ship across the ocean.
How many weeks before it arrives at port in LA?
That is true. Today's paints chip a lot easier than those of yesteryear. The $700 film is expensive but it does protect the front end. A paint job on the front end would probably run $1,500 - $2,000 and matching the Soul Red paint is difficult so the film is good insurance.
I decided to go with...
I do agree that the Mazda diesels are not that great and have suffered a lot of issues. They ceased production in the USA. Mazda is taking a risk with the diesels and the design has proven problematic for them. I would trust a BMW diesel over a Mazda diesel, that is for sure. The Germans know...
Yes, it showed that the Mazda dropped it from 25 mph to 22mph but it kept moving at 3mph. The Subaru stopped completely.
With that being said, both the Subaru and Mazda got the 6 out of 6 points and the Superior rating. So IIHS views the 3mph as a minor thing and did not knock points off of it.
Got 2 quotes for the clear front end film protection on the CX5. One was SunTek at $700 and the other was 3M at $850.
Is one better than the other? Has anyone used SunTek films? http://suntekfilms.com/paintprotection/suntek-window-paint-protection.aspx
So the American version is basically a revised (and legal) version of the ALH. The US version does the high/low beam auto controls and the headlights pivot on turns to light up the roadway but of course the tech is different in the ALH.
I think it would be a interesting to see which system...
BMW makes some great vehicles, no doubt. They are of course a LUXURY HIGH-END manufacturer. Mazda does not compete with BMW. BMW competes with Audi, Mercedes, Lexus, etc.
With that being said. BMW vehicles can be hit or miss in long term reliability. New engine and trans designs, have...
