I agree, I’m very happy with the CrossClimate2’s on my RAV4 hybrid. 45k miles on them and no complaints. The eco Michelin tires that were stock weren’t fantastic but I didn’t expect much from a stock fuel efficient tire :D I’ll likely get CrossClimate2 for the CX-5 as well.
I drained the transmission pan and replaced the transmission filter today on my 23 Turbo. Just shy of 30k miles. Nothing really noteworthy other than the magnet looking like my old ‘13s magnet when I dropped than pan at 100k miles. Waiting for the new RTV to cure overnight before I refill it...
Im far from an expert on anything like this (so don’t fire her back up on my advice alone), but I found a report on timing being off being thrown due to low oil 2016.5 CX-5 2.5L Timing chain skipped a tooth?
Anybody think the first start after rebuild and without fuel pump on could’ve caused...
Signs of a Blown Head Gasket Here is a very similar thread, but their cylinder 4 numbers are much much lower. I’d give this a read for suggestions and troubleshooting. They’re digging in and trying to fix the engine but from the sound of it, doesn’t sound like it’s worth the trouble for you if...
Thank you so much for the pictures and status updates. Reading this whole thread is making me feel completely lazy putting off a transmission fluid and filter change on the truck.
If I were to use a gasket instead of RTV on my ‘23 T transmission pan, does anybody know of a reputable filter/gasket kit or just a gasket that’s known to fit? I’m comfortable with RTV and have done it before, but considering using a gasket to make dropping the pan easier on a future service...
100%!
The only knock I have on the weight in seat sensor is if it malfunctions. My old ‘05 Focus cloth seat got slightly wet. Not soaked, slightly wet. The sensor forever read slight weight in the seat when none was there and disabled the passenger seat airbag. Seatbelt status didn’t tie into...
Apologize, safety guy by trade. Had to say it was a bad idea again. Inability to restrain cargo or occupants = catastrophic severity mishap 🤪
Fake seat belt buckle cut from a junk car or a 3d printed one to fool the alarm.
I bet you could 3d print a belt buckle. Didn’t think of that until I learned some dummies would rather click a fake buckle to silence a chime rather than use their damn seatbelt for themselves.
Never really realized this was a problem. I always put my backpack on the floor in front of the seat...
Did the lower idle start before or after the spark plugs were changed? I’d use the OEM or NGK or Denso Iridium equivalent as the SkyActiv engine uses the spark plug as an ignition sensor. Id do a manual intake valve and throttle body cleaning as others have suggested. I also like dunhillmcs note...
Agreed, the wording is all over the place. I read it the same way and wasn’t going to file a claim until I reached this language. The claim was denied for self-repair screen replacement but I’m pushing back.
Reimbursement for Out-of-Pocket Expenses: You may be entitled to reimbursement for any...
This is a new trend I’m noticing. Small fees or “deductibles” for settlement/extended warranty coverage. I think I remember seeing similar $500 “deductibles” for people who needed to get their high voltage hybrid harness replaced on RAV4s despite that language not being spelled out anywhere...
Exactly. Take a huge % of the award for “fees” but get the cheapest and worst servicer to process claims to yield higher profit. I never expected to see that $200 again but man you’d think I was asking for thousands back with how silly that denial was.
We received a denial for the screen replacement claim today. It was a self repair with a repair kit purchased from MazdaSwag. The list of “deficiencies” with the claim were ridiculous: no purchase date provided, use of non-OEM parts, no valid reason for claim, and no proof of expense incurred...
If you’re running a thicker oil for better protection, I’d personally consider 0w-30 for the best of both worlds. I’m doing this on my Titan as im just not thrilled with the idea of towing nearly 5,000 pounds over hills, during southern summers, with 0w-20.
Folks complain about 0w-20 being for...
Sick find, thanks for sharing. Wish they fit the turbo.
Recommend ya’ll check Advance for other car models too. Looks like they’re clearing out Purolator cabin, air and oil filters along with some FRAM oil filters for 75% off.
Maybe? I like how 3M Silicone Paste specifically called out its use for brake systems as it likely had compounds to reduce friction and prevent it from gumming up. Advertises itself as a jack of all trades. Molykote 111 doesn’t go that far, but I was finding some references like Jaguar requiring...
I never used it but I’m sure it was worth the hype. 3M makes some fantastic stuff. I’m guessing their pivot away from it could’ve been due to it containing PTFE or something. Their data sheets state they didn’t knowingly add PFAS/PFOA but I’m guessing there’s something in the proprietary...
