Do you have a 2.0 cx5? The 2.5 is pretty impressive to me..
The cx9 does fine 70-85mph, but its for sure not its strong point. City street work 0-30 or low speed pulls 20-40 are where it really shines. Somebody should post a time/mph dyno sheet so you can see without prejudice. The way...
Yep I got by with 2 row 5 seat vehicles for years with 3 kids. No problem. Some fairly small 5 seat vehicles at that.
Search "umbrella stroller" and there is your answer. Those will fit in almost any vehicle. The Escalladification of the stroller is the real problem here. Not lack of trunk...
In a Mazda forum, in the CX9 section everybody is recommending the Lexus. I think that really shows how fair and open minded you guys are. Hats off to you guys.
I kind of agree too.. if you can score a 60k Lexus for 45k, if you don't do a lot of miles, if you can use and appreciate all that...
Nice, its the right choice for socal.
FWD isn't half as limiting as people make it out to be. Seriously watch some fwd rally vids to see how good it can do in dirt. Not that any CX9 is going to see that kind of use. Any CX9. Ever. But yeah fwd can do well off road, if you want to take it...
It is easy to make it spin when you want it. Its great. I've never had it spin when i didn't want it. Regardless of hills or load or anything else. The three days of the year it rains in socal, you take it easy, just as you would with AWD.
Lolz @ this thread. The lady doth protest too much methinks.
Even if you are correct and this Euphoric Utopia is what some CX9 peeps have.. why go out of your way to piss all over it.
If heat is the issue, there are pretty easy workarounds using water or methanol. Or a big fat cooler. All proven, tested methods..

Point being, just because the maker intends the motor as being one thing, that fact doesn't limit it from being something completely different.
Look at Livernois.. all it takes is for one little guy to figure it out. It doesn't require a huge market.
Not meant as a performance car engine, just like all the little Honda four cylinders economy cars of the past 30 years.
That the youths have pushing out 500 horsepower just fine on.. yeah.
SAFE styling, I wouldn't say bad. Like their other hot seller products just bigger. Same approach VW took with Atlas. I think both look better than the Highlander, more restraint, a little less transformers.
For me yeah the CVT would be the deal killer, not the understated styling. Big...
Idle and up to 2k rpm its kinda choppy. But when you get on the throttle IMO the forced induction sounds beat any 6. Maybe the FI noises are an acquired taste..
I agree with all that is in the original post. Any of those other car models in the list would have been fine for me. When you...
On the blender thing.. yes cold start up is pretty horrible sounding. Even more so with the non turbo skyactiv motors, but once they are warmed up the idle quiets down. I think its down the unusually high compression.
Pretty much standard for all AWD cars these days, a wheel in the air and the motor will just spin it. Speaking of which, does anybody make a locking diff for these CX9's?
If you've ever seen fwd rally cars go at it.. yes fwd can work AMAZING with the right tires.
Here in L.A. fwd is a no brainer. I think most folks who get AWD here just like the street cred of having that badge on the back. :P
Besides the weight/mpg factor, I like not having extra moving...
Damn I wish I were in the market for a new sedan. It will be really difficult to screw up a turbo 2.5 mazda6.
OOOH wait wait, I got a way.. only offer the 2.5t on a super deluxe $$$ model with an automatic. No sport trim, no manual transmission.
But yeah if they go any other way...
Inline six would make more sense than a V with that long hood. Maybe slant six to keep the hood lower- since they have to recast a block anyway.. Off the shelf 2.5 internals would put it at 3.75L and around 276hp without boost. Skyactiv don't make for revvy engines, but still should be a...
Haven't measured but yes the CX9 floor is super high. In my experience its pretty rare that one would need to stack cargo high, so the numbers are kind of misleading unless you commonly utilize that air space up high near the headliner. Floor area is more important IMO.
Packing for moving...
I remember going up to the GP race at Laguna Seca in like 2005 and seeing the "sporty cross overs" on display at the Mazda booth. Thinking to myself 'who are these guys trying to fool with these ginormous, terrible COG, body rolling, heavy ass things.' And now here I am...
