I hope the USB jack makes the CD changer unnecessary! Bluetooth streaming is convenient in terms of media, but hitting a button to change CDs is 1000% less distracting than fidding with my phone when I want to listen to something different.
Come to think of it, what does the "audio package"...
Kind of neat having a new Mazda5 for your first car! Ours was my first ever new car purchase, first time for me having something under 6 years old and of living for more than a few months with something under 10 years old (then 20, then 30 ....) as my personal DD. (My wife's first and only car...
Wow ... 7 miles from an actual road? I would avoid a Five if at all reasonable - it really is a rather hard-riding car when the driving surface is questionable.
I was caused to drive my M5T about 4 miles on a dirt road once, and it took an hour or two for me to return to normal afterward...
Excellent info there. I figured there'd got to be something noteworthy wrong at that price, or else that particular dealer thought no one locally would care about a Five unless it was stupidly cheap. We're not actually in the market to replace our (very reliable and extremely cheap to live...
I've noticed an '07 Mazda5 on a small used lot near here, and if my eyes aren't tricking me they're asking something under $5000. I think this is the first Five I've seen priced much under $10,000 - part of why we sprung for a brand-new '12 model a year ago. Don't know the mileage or specifics...
Insurance rates are weird. When I added a 1987 Crown Vic fleet package to my insurance a few years ago, it was $10-$15 more per month than either a 1987 Colony Park or a 1981 LTD (fullsize) for the same coverage (comp and liability only for those cars). Evidently the fleet model costs my...
Looks nice! That's the color my wife would have chosen if we'd ordered a car. And I still think installing 17s standard in Touring models was a mistake ....
Did your local dealer actually have a stick-shift in stock, or did you have to get yours from elsewhere? I live in Michigan, and last I...
Yes, I've had excellent luck in the past with non-car-enthusiasts paying keen attention when I start a technical conversation about automobiles.
Absolutely. I was rather taken with torquelover's late Impreza when I drove it, so Subaru was one brand I was keen to consider when I wanted something newer and smaller, but seating for at least six was a key criterion this time around, and IIRC that plus small and affordable narrowed the field...
Sorry, I was too (gah) to think to take pics!
In related news, one family who'd expressed interest in my Five recently bought a Pontiac TranSport, and another family who were curious about the Five just bought a Dodge Durango (!). Both families seem to enjoy driving on dirt paths, so I'm...
I learned recently that driving a Mazda5 on cross-grooved dirt trails (affectionately called "roads" in some parts of my area) will turn you into this:
(gah)
Better still, your friends in the '99 Chevy Suburban will think you're weird for looking like that. Go figure.
I located where the horn is, if that helps! :p Seems to have some sort of bizarre plug on it with a built-in retainer, was unable to figure out how to unplug it while reaching down inside the bumper cover one-handed.
Mine did recently, and now there's a funny grinding noise when it opens and closes. Seems to be coming from the upper rolly-slider assembly, right as it hits the curved part of the track. Haven't yet been able to look at it seriously whilst running errands in 100-degree heat.
Come to think...
Ah, I was wondering where those pics had been taken. Tint looks quite dark to me, but my experience is only with the 10% I removed from the old Vic. How's the nighttime visibility to the sides and rear?
