Another gripe.
The power windows switches are way too sensitive. If you touch it longer then 1 nanosecond it'll roll the windows either all the way up or all the way down. You can't adjust for intermediate positions unless you barely touch the switch.
Is there any list of the oils that meet Mazda's specs?
Since the Mazda oil is nearly unobtainium, does that leave Castrol as the only store bought option?
What winter tires did you use before the GY Icegrips?
What size did you go with? I see they don't offer them in 225/65-17. Did you drop down to the 215's?
Thanks for the insight! Even in the winter, roads can be just fine and you make a good point about sacrificing handling.
Sacrificing a spare is the silliest thing a person can do. (My G8 GT came std. with a silly "toy" air pump and a can of slime and never again will I be without a spare.)
What happens is that most tire failures are rather catastrophic from road hazards in which case the air pump and slime become...
I just priced out some of these tires.
Blizzak WS80's are right around $500 out the door (Costco)
Michelin X-Ice are around $630 (Costco)
Nokian Hakka R2's are a whopping $760
The Tire Rack surveys suggest Blizzak WS80's are better then X-Ice. I can't find any comparison of the Nokians to...
With almost every vehicle I've owned, there's been some good "butt dyno" performance mods with little to no negative impact other then cost. (ie cost of the mod and/or fuel related cost). Depending on the manufacturer, engineers tend to leave a whole lot of untapped potential on the table for...
I just scored an extra set of Mazda CX-5 17" rims for dedicated winter tire use. Now I'm starting the gradual search for the best dedicated winter tire for this vehicle. It seems like Blizzak WS80's and Hokian Hakka R2's are the leading contenders. Anyone have any insight into which one does...
At 2000 miles the likes way outnumber the dislikes but here are some more:
1. Why does the cruise control have an off button. I can't imaging any scenario where you'd every want to turn it completely off. (I'm talking on/off vs cancel/set)
2. The Navtek GPS system is really pretty bad. (5...
This crap is generally a waste of money. It's only purpose is to get the dealer additional profit.
Extended warrantys are also a bad deal. Read every word in the warrany because they're carefully written by armies of lawyers with clauses to get out of paying for things you think will be...
"Tweaks applied" shows up on the top of the infotainment screen.
There's no need to drive the car. Just hit start once without touching the brake and insert the USB drive, wait 5 minutes for the message and then reboot.
First of all you need to give it some time. It takes about 5 minutes before the message comes up "tweaks applied". Did you get this message? If so, did you reboot the system after the tweaks were applied?
If you have to do it again, I'd suggest doing a full format of your USB drive vs a...
My system is a '16 Navtek. So far two methods have created a valid backup:
1. Performing an image backup of the SD card and then writing the image to a new card. (simply copying and pasting the card's files does not work)
2. Mazda Toobox works even though it says that the original card must...
The Infotainment system disables touch screen input when the vehicle is moving. I understand this. What's rediculous is that the vehicle can detect when a passenger is seated (for airbag reasons) yet it still disable the touch screen.
This is stupid. I want my passenger to enter GPS data.
I just upgraded mine to Rev 55. The firmware is really simple to do.
I'm still researching the hacks and not sure what all this SSH/Putty stuffs is and how to establish a car to computer ethernet connection????
I have the same question. How can I make the touch screen available for passenger input when the car is moving? It's silly to totally disable it's input.
