    Obsessive compulsive car care habits

I always pull the parking brake after shutting the engine off. What is the reason for pulling it before (for manual too)? 🤔

Need help, metal flakes in oil and oil burning

OP may need therapy for the mental anguish from the discovery and discussion here. 😳 In his other posts he talked about the car being purchased used at 60K miles.

What have you done to your CX-3 today?

Yesterday when the wheels came off for rotation and brake pads, I noticed a nail in one tire. It was buried in one of the grooves and holding air. I have no idea how long it's been there. Went to my tire shop after work this morning and got it patched. Shop owner has been kind over the years and...

    Obsessive compulsive car care habits

I use exfoliating mittens to scrub off dead bugs from the frontend. These aren't coarse enough for how I like it in the shower so I reassign them to the car wash bucket. They don't leave scratch marks like the dish scrub. 😳 https://a.co/d/07DdgujX When I pre-fill the new oil filter, I pour new...

Need help, metal flakes in oil and oil burning

My drain pans are all black. I don't recall seeing residual bits while pouring the dirty oil into jugs, but there could have been. Cutting open one filter after 5K miles of VRP, I found a few tiny bits of what seemed to be carbon deposits. I wonder if the OP can dry the bits on a piece of paper...

What have you done to your CX-3 today?

The rear brake pads were replaced today. The previous set (Powerstop rotors/pads) were from 2021, so that was 100K+ miles in five years. The front pads are at 50%. Chose Raybestos this time because they were available overnight from Amazon. The hardware clips didn't fit right so the clips on...

Skyactiv Owners - Who is on their Original Belt Tensioner?

Did you mean this crack/slit that goes all the way around? It is only on the surface. Where is the crack clean in half? I didn't know it was that bad. 😭

It is the same mount. I thought the crack was superficial and the whole piece appeared intact. Let me try to stab it with a knife... The CX-3 is front-heavy, the tire pressure is 36/33 front/rear. I am gentle on the pedals. I downshift to climb hills but that's not hard acceleration? Best 0-40...

What oil filter are you using? It might be worthwhile to cut open the filter to see if there are similar chunks in there. I thought particles of this size would have been caught by the filter. Can you to see if a standard magnet would pick up those chunks? If so, definitely use a magnetic drain...

Skyactiv Owners - Who is on their Original Belt Tensioner?

I believe that is the passenger side upper mount. There are surface cracks at the top of mine (removed at 155K miles). The whole piece of rubber is solid. The pedestal shape (?) allows for quite a bit of movement. Among the 3 mounts, this is the only one that I can move with my hand. I didn't...
