The problem with running the tank down isn't so much the garbage getting sucked up, but instead the negative effect on the fuel pump.

I would drive back there and demand they change the oil and put in not only the oil you requested, but the oil that it says in the freakin manual is recommended and necessary to achieve maximum fuel economy as per page 6-21 of the manual.
