I understand that your fuel pressure will allow you to increase the flow rate of the injectors but I just don't understand why you would want to increase pressures that high. I get it's only doing it when it's needed but increasing the fuel injector sizing would allow you to run appropraite...
I know idle is a PITA to dial in when running larger injectors on a 2.0 since when not in boost you still have to maintain a steady fuel flow. But the only thing I'm thinking is that with the BSFC at .60-065 for turbo cars at 80% duty cycle I would expect you to be running a larger injector...
So took a loooooong time to get my engine back from the machine shop and I don't really want to get into the story right now. But here are some pics of the engine assembled free of charge because of the long ass wait. I'm probably going to try and get some vacation time in order to get a...
That's why I'm keeping the rear seats, covers all the bases. I do only have 2 kids though and I'm pretty sure the dump tube, 3" straight back, 95duro mounts and straight cut gears will prevent my kids and wife from wanting to ride with me, LOL. Plan works every time!
That maybe very true when you're running Stage 3 Integrals but as far as I know MazdaspeedP still has stock cams (maybe j-spec but same thing). And as most of us know they leave a lot to be desired in the performance aspect of things. When I decide to go all supertech on my head I was thinking...
The factory cam gears won't allow you to adjust timing which is why I'm saying it might be better to keep them. Also the DeatschWerks 600cc injectors for the Mazdaspeed Protege is $299 brand new straight from the company. Definitely think you have a better deal getting some used ones for cheap...
What kind of injectors? Finding cam gears for the FS-DE is almost impossible and unless you already have another set then I would highly advise keeping the gears. You can pick up some STI pink (565cc) injectors for next to nothing. Just a word of advise.
What features do the CP pistons have that are not standard on the Wiseco ones? They are relatively simliar in price so I'm just wondering. By the way I'm running Wisecos so if something were to ever happen then I just want to know that I have a better option with CP.
I'm not sure what "better" rods he has but you can't go wrong with the tried and true ones that are available (Pauter, Molnar, K1, Crower). Unless he's machining rods on his own (which I have to imagine will cost you a pretty penny) he would also need to do a lot of research in order to do that...
Yeah, I've talked to him about it before. He definitely knows his stuff, kind of wish I was part of the forums when he built his last P5 and was more active on the forums.
The highest rated NA FS-DE I know of was Installshields old build. I believe he was just over 190hp but like stated before it was custom everything and he did a lot of research to get that done. Not to mention he is a mechanical engineer.
Aside from the fact it's going to cost you an arm and a leg to get it shipped to you (dealing with customs, freight, insurance) why would you not try and pick up a local one? The FS-DE was used in a lot of cars and they're practically no different from the motor that's in the MSP. Just small...
Looks like there is a lot of interest in MOTM again. Glad to see it back up and running and good luck to all.
Hyperion, I think you can go lower...(naughty)
