So the piece broke into two pieces? I'm looking at your pic more carefully. It looks like the headlight support bracket to me. Can you verify that the piece is missing is indeed that part? I hate for you to order something and it not be it :/
Major bummer. Sounds like you would've kept driving the P5 for many years to come. The dying breed mantra continues.
I recently have also considered parting ways my P5 to get into something newer (Mazda3). But not because the P5 is faltering, it's been a GA and FL car all 13 years so no rust...
Those are the headlight support brackets that are under the headlights and secured to the bumper frame. Check the pictures in the link below:

I'm currently looking at a 2007 Mazda3 GT w/OEM Nav. The car is in wonderful shape, but if it were up to me, I would rather not have the Nav system as even back when these cars were new, the system was outdated and waaay overpriced. In any case, this car has it so I have to potentially deal with...
There's a member that just posted a Titanium Gray spoiler for sale on the Facebook Protege Parts For Sale group. He won't ship, but he's located in CT and willing to meet up within a certain distance. Maybe you all can arrange a meetup :)
I'll also let him know you're looking.
What cancer is that? Trying to help a newer member be a little more self sufficient in a less active part of the forum? I did provide a thread, but unfortunately it's not working per forum oddities with a search result thread. I'm not quite sure why it's not working. And I pointed out to the OP...
Looks like you're still getting acquainted to the forum. For reference, did you try using the search function? This topic of "interchangeable" parts has been discussed pretty thoroughly in the past. Here are some results from searching "interchangeable"...
Double post?

May want to be a little more patient as you wait for a response as the amount of Protege and Protege5 owners are dwindling ;)
Ok...thanks. LMK if the sensor works because that's the reason I'm looking for a replacement. My seatbelt reminder beep currently does not work any longer.
Yeah...most likely the wrong bulbs. Hopefully there's no damage to the sockets when I go to replace them. We'll cross that bridge when I get there...(nervous):)
Actually took one of my EDM tails off tonight to see my bulb number, but I couldn't get the bulb out. It's a chrome amber bulb, but it wouldn't twist when I pushed it down. Wonder if it's the wrong size but I jammed it down to make it fit. Both chrome bulbs work fine though. Guess I might have...
You might be on to something with the JDM/EDM. Not sure which one I got. All I know it looks better than the stock tails :)
Glad you got yours figured out.
I'm using chrome amber bulbs in my JDM tails and I believe they're P21W/1156 bulbs like the ones here:

Maybe there's a difference between 1156a and 1156?
Did more searching and looks/sounds like this person had the same issue. His video is from the engine bay:

We're gonna bring it to the dealer hopefully sometimethis week hopefully.
So you've heard that exact sound on your Mazda5? Does it happen only occasionally or pretty regularly? I have noticed the AC is still cold and works as should, but the sound is pretty loud and alarming...lol
AC Compressor Fail? (Video) - HELP!
My wife just came home and reported that our MZ5 was making a loud noise while she was at a stoplight. I tested the car and couldn't replicate the sound until I turned the AC on. When I went to turn the AC off, it made a deep bassy whirring sound in the...
