Thinking about getting a full size spare. How many wheels does the TPMS system
keep track of? Will it detect all five and keep track of them, or maybe just find
four, or will it get totally confused?
I chose the 2.0 and am happy with it. You have to spin it up a bit to get good acceleration, but it seems quite willing. I have not run it anywhere near redline, it's still pretty new. If you're thinking of nitrous or forced induction, the higher compression of the 2.0 might be a problem...
Interesting how relative things are. I just got a 3i Touring and having trouble getting used to the harsh ride of the stiff low profile tires. Same tires you thought were mushy, but I'm coming from a Ford Escort :)
Yes, tiny coaxial cable dives under the weatherseal, but nothing behind the little
cover but tail lights. Where else might they hide the sat receiver? It looks like the
"glue" might be a double-stick rubber sheet. We should be getting some good hot
sunny days here before long and I'll see if...
Have a 2012 hatchback, came with the "switchblade" keys with remote lock/unlock/panic.
Gathering information about what keys and/or fobs will work with this system.
I want the immobilizer disabled, but would like to keep the remote lock/unlock/panic.
Local tech says we could clear all the keys...
The wire runs back into the hatch crack and under the weather seal. Or so it appeared on first glance. I'll take a closer look when I get a chance. In any case, it's not a hole on the roof surface.
Lower maintenance and longer life. They salt roads in the Winter here and it eats alloys. Also want 15" with taller profile tire, but that's another thread.
I'm researching steel wheels for my 3i hatchback. I'm aware of www.tirerack.com, but wanted to get some input from the group on other vendors I might want to consider for comparison or options. Who have you dealt with and who do you like?
I'll probably be replacing my system this Summer and can post a report, but I didn't get all those extra gizmos (Bose radio, dual zone climate, nav, BSM), so my experience may not help you much. I'd suggest calling Crutchfield, they seem to be somewhat knowledgable though some of your details...
New 3i hatchback came with satellite radio, which I don't want.
Hockey puck antenna looks like it is glued on. Anyone know a
way to remove it without damaging the paint?
I can do the tire math, the question is wheels. Do you know of any 15" wheels that will fit? As in what vehicle do I ask for if I go to a wrecking yard or a website like tirerack.com?
The original 16" alloy wheels are obviously fine for fair weather good pavement, but I'd like to have a different setup for slop and chuckholes. I'm pretty sure the 16" steel wheels from the SV/Sport will fit, but the brake calipers look like they have gobs of extra clearance and I'm wondering...
