Appreciate the nudge. I watched a couple of YT clips and have a rough idea of what is involved. If I have to get in there, I should replace the alternator, starter, and tensioner at the same time.
Less than a year ago I was very motivated to refresh fluids and replace worn parts. Somehow I...
I was curious and kept reading. He owns or runs a shop in the gold country part of northern California and claims to be an authorized independent "warranty" service technician. I thought warranty service is available only through dealerships? Anyway, I would understand God complex from...
If you ask the same question in a fb group, the results would be very different. When I was in sales in 2016, the CX-5 was popular among all age groups. 🙂 No turbos back then, only CX-9 was turbo charged.
Not sure when it was fixed. 🤩
Last year I reached out to Mazda USA about this and was told to contact Mazda Japan. I wasn't able to structure legit contact info that is required to submit an inquiry there.
Cut open the Bosch filter (large) today along with a Pentius (small) from the CX-3. The Bosch filter was on for two years and worked for maybe 500 miles. Nothing alarming that I can tell. It was almost too wide for the baby visegrip mounted to the bench on my patio.
The maintenance requirements for severe driving conditions represent a higher standard of care for the same engine. It would be difficult for Mazda to deny warranty coverage on the ground that the owner has been more careful/diligent than most. 🤦
My 2017 NA 2.0 used 0w20 every 7K/8K miles for around 160K miles at typical mpg. If I knew better, I would have switched to 5w30 every 5K miles much sooner.
It really sucks to have this worry/concern hanging over our heads. I was lucky that nothing went wrong during the warranty period. At...
It was a really weird episode. I experimented with different apps and still prefer OBD Scanner Pro over Torque Pro. Read the developer's notes more carefully and bought a $30 adapter that was listed as compatible. No DTC found with the new adapter.
The vLinker adapter offers its own app to...
At 179,340 miles with 1.5 quarts of VRP and the rest Castrol GTX, both full synthetic 5w30. Yes I understand that different brands offer different additive packages. Going forward, 3K with lowest cost full syn oil plus one of the 3 aftermarket filters left on my shelf.
Good point. I never looked into where my CX-3 was made. When I worked at the dealership, some customers would specify that they only wanted units (model specific) from Japan. I recall it was the 3s that were made in both. The manager would search the inventory based on VIN to meet that request...
Wix 57002 is the only one that I am aware of. Was about to order until I saw the cut-open video. I do not understand why the filter element has to be so short. I had a royal purple filter like that.
I do not know if Wix 57002 is rated for turbo...
