Need to do a $25 oil analysis to see if coolant contaminated the oil. Also scan for overheat codes. If no to both you could do a head replacement with a new updated head assy. The parts cost about $1200 max, the rest is labor. I think book on a head replacement is 17 hrs. Best to drop the...
It looks like gear oil with water mixed in it? Really weird. I dunno. The more I think about it a wheel assy can take a hell of a hit and show no rim or tire deformation. Depends on what it hits. If its blunt, it can sustain no damage and also transfer an incredible amount of force thru...
It's absolutely worthy of reporting. Unless other members here think there's a possibility of being sued for slander, liable, defamation, and just not being a nice Mazda owner?
The strut got pulled outboard pretty good so for a good repair its probably going to be a lca, strut, upper strut bearing and a real good inspection of the upper strut tower. That area had to feel it when the knuckle got pulled to the right. Oh yea, and that brake line is toast. Maybe the...
Mobile 1 108a (I think) would be my choice after the Thai oem denso filter if your looking for a alternate. Those micro guards are kind of scary. I would spin that puppy off and put a better one on there. You can do that without pulling the plug. Might have to add six or eight ounces though
Yup. I would take reliability over economy everytime.
I put cylinder deactivation in the same basket as ethanol fuel, 0w-20 oil, 7500 oil change intervals, I stop, and all the other idiotic attempts that car makers use to raise their Cafe numbers sacrificing their (our) reliability.
Agreed Conrad 16.5. great points. I know it makes people uncomfortable to hear the brand they drive might have a problem with this or that, but most of us want this information and are greatfull that prople like the op take the time to document a situation like this.
I agree. I find the op credible. The questioning of his motivations is weird. Like really weird. I do think there are pieces of information missing that I would like to know. Reasons for denial of warranty. Reason insurance says its on mazda. Who spilled thier milkshake on the driveline...
Worth it. I almost purchased a 22 cx5. But at the last moment I discovered it had CD. Then almost got a 5 with the turbo, didn't want to pay $41k so I got the turbo in my 9 out the door for 37,450. Very happy
Good question. I think there are provisions in the CD head like machining for deactivation devices on the valve train, maybe oil control lines etc where it might be simpler to just start re-casting the original head? Dunno
Where did you hear this? And if true that would be nice for sure! I think they would have to use the pre 2018 head for that. So I guess it's possible. Never heard of a pre 2018 2.5 NA head cracking.
Agreed. No way one 8000 oci even with the worst oil would do that. That's either never changing your oil over 20-30k or a bunch of 15k oci with garbage oil. I do 5k with Kirkland 5w-30 and my engine will go way north of 300k with no problem. Why 5k OCI you ask. Because it's so dang easy...
Thats a really good point. I wouldnt let the dealer get any clue the oil in there is even 1 mile past 7,500 old. No way 8k oil would doom those seals, but I wouldnt risk them ever knowing. I would fake up some paperwork that I supliment dealer oil changes with dyi oil changes or something...
