I also decided not to swap the coolant, i am just waiting for the car to die on it's own and figure i will be getting the water pump failure long before the acid coolant can cause any sort of damage to something else. 2007 with 200k miles, don't know if the coolant was changed by previous owner...
a bunch of ford with the same transfer case have the transfer case breaking too but they don't break the transmission with it, the transmission splines problem is only on the cx9 i beleive
I really am clueless about all of this, this is the first time i see something like that on these cars. Best would be to find an other CX9 and swap over some of the electronic until you find the defective one but that is not an easy task.
it certainly has nothing to do with the transfer case but seems like an ecu or something is going wrong. I am afraid that is not going to be an easy one to fix.
yeah sorry didn't read that right, yes just take out driveshaft and you are done, nothing special to do afterwards.
I wouldn't mind as a buyer having the transfer case off if it come with the car, what would bother me is someone putting it back and not declare the awd doesn't work
yes you can leave the the transfer case off as well as the driveshaft. As far as the rear diff goes, i personnally left mine in place because if you take it out, you will need to remove the rear axles and the rear axles also have the teeth for the ABA so if you remove the rear axles, you will...
there is a million post on this problem, search this forum carefully. You need to replace the transmission because the diff (in the transmission) isn't a part that can be sold by the dealer. Seems like someone found a replacement source on ebay so if you want to repair it you will have to remove...
ABS panic stop won't change anything between 2wd and awd, awd won't engage with that. The awd is useless if you don't have snow. The only time i wish i had awd during summer was when i was on grass with a heavy rain on a slope and i was pulling a tailer, couldn't get it up the hill, that and...
yes if the internal of the transfer case is shot, the transmission may be turning it a little even if the splines are shot. Either at some point the splines are going to be completly shot and you won't hear it anymore or you take it to an indy shop that will take less than 3 hours to remove...
no you remove the driveshat and leave the rear diff in place. Take out driveshaft, take out passenger side axel, remove the transfer case, reinstall passenger side axel and you are done.
to know if it's a wheel bearing, at the speed that it does it, turn the steering left and right like if you were doing a ladder with imaginary cones on the road (make sure no one else is around) and if the sound changes depending on the side you are then it means you have a bad wheel bearing
question has been asked a couple of times and unfortunatly never was answered, not many people have been doing engine swap in those vehicule and seems like info isn't easily available.
