I did take it about three-four months after the first letter, while I was having some other service done (transfer case fluid exchange at Hamilton Mazda, Hamilton, NJ)
I spoke to this dealer - I think they only did the inspection for your car and did not change out any parts. They told me they do not have these recalled parts and would only order them if they determine during the inspection that signs of excessive wear are present.
i've noticed this as well and believe it is normal. in fact, when i use the manual mode, i often downshift as much as two to three gears under heavy braking just to benefit from some engine braking. some on this site have said that this is bad for the transmission.

Agreed that the new Pilot looks less compelling than the current one.
Now, the new XC90 looks very good. Pretty unbelievable that Mazda has nothing to replace the CX9.
