Exactly. The VW diesel tune made the VW get great mileage but it would fail the EPA emission tests so VW tweaked and cheated to pass the emission test. So while the diesel CX5 could get better mileage it would cause it to fail the EPA test. That's the dilemma. Better mileage = failing emissions...
It's nowhere near 40mpg. The diesel only shows 3mpg more than the gasoline version. Who will pay more $$ for a diesel, thousands more, then pay more $$ for diesel fuel. All for 3mpg? Not going to happen.
Mazda will have to take a loss on US diesel release and maybe offer the diesel for the same...
The CX5 diesel MPG numbers are not that great and diesel in non-trucks is DEAD in the USA. Diesel-gate from VW sealed the fate of diesel vehicles. The US market is not interested in diesel.
Mazda lost MILLIONS of dollars with the diesel development. It started back in 2010 and A LOT has...
The CX5 diesel MPG numbers are not that great. They are almost equal with the gasoline version. Why would people pay more $$ for something that gets identical fuel mileage? Then you have to pay for diesel additive and higher maintenance costs...
I lived in Phoenix with 115F heat and then I visited Chicago when it was mid 90's and insane mid 60's Dew Point. I would rather take the 115F desert dry heat over 90's and very high dew points. I was drenched in sweat in Chicago and I could not cool off. It was horrible.
A lot of the A/Cs cooling power also comes from HOW MUCH refrigerant it can hold. Should be over 1 LB, not sure on specs. Had a Vette that had maybe 2.5 LBS? Man, that car would freeze you out even in 100F heat.
2014 Mazda3's were problematic because they had under 1 LB, just not enough to...
I went from 2016 to 2017 and it was a NIGHT AND DAY difference with it comes to noise. Much quieter on the roadway. The interior is more refined. Better materials, better layout and more high-end looking.
I like the front end more on the 2017+ but I preferred the side profile on the 2016...
Officially, the 2.5T in the Mazda6 runs 14.9s in the 1/4 mile.
I've been involved in drag racing for 30 years. Everyone knows that driver error plays a huge role. The second factor is atmospheric conditions (hot and humid day). Many variables at play.
New Mazda6 Turbo does the 1/4 mile in 14.9 @ 97mph
Mazda6 2.5 with NO turbo did the 1/4 mile in 15.5 @ 92mph
The above is fast. When compared to the "muscle car" era, running 14's and 15's would be muscle car era fast.

2.5L turbocharged DOHC 16-valve I-4/250 hp @ 5,000 rpm, 310 lb-ft @ 2,000 rpm
New Mazda6 Turbo does the 1/4 mile in 14.9 @ 97mph
Mazda6 2.5 with NO turbo did the 1/4 mile in 15.5 @ 92mph
Knocking off a 1/2 second is no small task. While not a sports car by any means. I would take the more...
I couldn't find where the docs show the turbo engine for the CX5
If it's true, the turbo would be available in the Signature trim, just like it is for the Mazda6 version
I've never built a home before and going on of my skills I learned as a teenager and young adult. I tackled the project and today, I can say I built my own home and it's perfect. Everything I did either I did myself or I supervised the trades. I saved around $60,000 by doing the work myself...
