I recall that there is another step that is needed when changing out the battery in an i-Eloop-equipped Mazda. I'll have to check my owner's manual but I know it is not as simple as changing a regular 12V battery in a car with no super capacitor.
Generally, more miles = more time. (but not necessarily the other way around if you get stuck in heavy traffic.) My comment assumes little to no traffic. In the Winter, 10 miles of total distance may not be enough. It's not very cold here in Southern California but I still drive a minimum of 10...
No. Batteries are rated for Cold Cranking Amps. Starting your vehicle places the largest load on the battery.
13.4 volts indicates that your alternator is sufficiently charging the battery. Did you mention how long your twice-weekly trips were?
As long as you drive the car at least 15 miles, once per week or two the battery should stay charged. However, as edmaz mentioned, short trips may not be enough to keep the battery close to fully charged.
I recently noticed that my MX5"s starter seemed to be turning more slowly than usual, so I...
The engine air filter is almost always a matter of removing a cover by lifting up formed wire retainers that hold the cover on - very straightforward.
The cabin filter is typically behind the glove box, the door of which needs to be lowered by first rotating a knob in each side. I'm sure there...
Perhaps a set of dumbbells and 2-3 times weekly arm exercises will help. As we age it becomes increasingly important to do weight-bearing exercise to maintain/slow the loss of muscle mass and encourage our bones to absorb calcium to maintain density.
I believe my i-Eloop battery (in my Mazda3) was replaced after 5 years, which is not too early compared to regular batteries. The cost was a bit over $600. I did notice that immediately after Mazda stopped using the ultra capacitor, the EPA mileage rating for new 3s dropped a few MPG. $600 every...
10-12 hours without stopping? That is a long stretch of road! When I was driving cross-country, I would stop after every 4-5 hours to eat or later at night, to sleep for the night. I can't imagine trying to drive that long on the highway without stopping.
I assume the seat in front of him cannot be moved a bit forward or would he sit behind you? Would you be able to ask a salesperson at a dealership to let you test-fit the seat and your son?
Is that your original battery? If so, change it, ASAP. Auto electronics will do crazy things when they are not receiving enough voltage. Even if your battery is not the original, get it checked.
My Mazda has a faster steering ratio than do the latest Mazdas, so having to correct steering should not be as frequent with older versions.
I was given a loaner Lexus ES350 by the Lexus dealership and the lane-tracing/correction feature was activated. I turned it off because it was quite annoying.
The most trouble when vehicles undergo a major upgrade is often with German and US auto manufacturers. CR had an issue about this very subject. You can see some cars (like Corvettes) never improve that much in the reliability sector. Toyota/Lexus very often get it right on the first try. Our...
JSB, your chart is the overall ranking which includes performance/road scores, etc. The Reliability ranking is the one I am attaching. Mazda is tops, either way.
