Tires installed by discount tire, no problem mounting with the 225's on stock rims...they had me in and out the door in 45 minutes...good:tires protect the rim, unbelievabe ride compared to the Toyos, cornering excellent as the Toyos, extremely quiet ride compared to the Toyos, Conti's feel like...
Thanks for your input!!! I have wondered about that, but man, theres almost a 1/4" of rim on both sides of the wheel rim exposed as it is when running a 205 tire....so if a 245 is .8in. wider, i am not pushing it much....i guess i will find out this Friday and report back...
Toyo's have about had it at 30,000 miles and i opted for the conti dsw's. Problem is they are back ordered at discount tire and it doesn't look like they will be getting any soon(in either 205/50 or 215/50/17). I had put in an order for the 215's, but they aren't appearing....sales rep at...
had the same problem when i purchased a 2009 mazda5 touring. I checked the tire pressure a month later and it was at 40-42 lbs. and i brought it down to 34. Never figured out why it was so high. On a sidenote, the stock Toyos are now at 26,000 miles and my service manager told me they will need...
I believe its a 44", can't remember but its in the garage. I had on the 5 about two weeks.Thirty bucks and shipping or buy some bricks at home depot and grout them up in front of your rack, same effect.(rlaugh)
I have the mazda rack(which is made by Thule) and 2 Thule Echelon bike mounts...definitely much louder with the Thule fairing installed. I ended up taking it off. The fairing looks cool, but thats about it...save your money.
Heres a pic of the stock mazda rack loaded with our bikes...the bike carriers are Thule echelon. I had the 44 inch Tule wind deflector on there for awhile. It looked nice, but really increased the wind noise and had to be hurting the mileage. I don't think you can improve on the mazda5's natural...
Hey Dan, checked out your thread....awesome color!!! I have seen a plum mica 5, but it was months ago on 40....I just had my windows tinted in Cary and am pretty much done with the mods i wanted. I have installed the Thule fairing since the last pic i took, but i could swear that it is noisier...
yeah, just washed it, but no sunshine....carry 2 bikes on top. Got the windows tinted today as you can see in this shot. The other pic shows how aerodynamic the Thule 518 is....Also, my mileage didn't suffer too badly on my first tank of gas with rack installed...27 average(never over 72 mph...
Hey dan4behr,
I live in Willow Spring down the road from you and work in Clayton. Off subject, but are there any Mazda5 groups around the area. I bought my 5 back in Sept. Have never seen a purple 5..........
I went through this when i researched my options to carry two bikes....i was all set for the hitch mount, then the roof rack. I went back and forth with it and finally contacted Mazda by email about the towing voiding the warranty. The reply stated, "towing with your Mazda5 is not recommended"...
You are right. I mounted the bike carriers last night and tested the sunroof. It clears, but the passenger side carrier is within 1/32" of an inch from touching the glass....really close. The driver side has about 1/8-3/16" of clearance. Its possible with the downforce on the glass i won't have...
Installed the OEM mazda rack and checked the sunroof operation. No problem, sunroof clears it. Actually, the rack is kind of tall, but very clean in appearance. Bike carriers should be here today....
