I don't think I have seen anyone update after the fact therefore I would highly suggest you unplug the new kit before the update to avoid the possibility of bricking.
Roll down your window, punch the gas and let off. If the turbo is working, you should hear the wastegate letting the excess boost out. If you don't hear anything then likely the turbo is not making boost
When I got engine replaced, something was not installed properly. No engine light, no warning of any sort. My turbo somehow was not spooling at all and it was worst than the NA cx-5 loaner. So my guess is they messed up somewhere and your turbo isn't working.
