As other people have mentioned, there were 26 that the MOCO knew of back in October. Also, keep in mind, the percentage of CX-5 owners that are actually on this forum is very minuscule. So it may appear on here that the problem is minuscule. But, believe me if this happened to you, it becomes...
MyFirstMazda you may be right on this. It could be the reason Mazda refuses to reflash all new vehicles on the lot. They may not be sure what is truly the cause. Remember, all of this happened to me back in October and this problem was still in its infancy. Maybe since then they have...
yrwei52 I believe you made the right choice in not buying the 2018. Mine is on a 3 year lease with 2 years remaining. I have tried to get out of the lease by moving up to the new CX-5 reserve with the Turbo at the same dealership that I bought the 18 at but it is going to cost me an arm and a...
Thanks for this info t.suv. So again I ask why is there no recall. My vehicle had this issue back in October of 2018. This bulletin is dated 4-8-19. And I know that my vehicle was number 19 that they knew of then. By the time I got my vehicle out of the shop they knew of 26 that had...
The cause of the rocker arm falling off is low oil pressure on the lifter during cylinder deactivation. This is due to the wrong programming in the PCM. My dealership told me that they were informed by Mazda that they had two suppliers of this PCM and one of the suppliers had the wrong program...
hopefully you guys can open that so all of you doubters out there will understand this is not a joke. I sincerely hope none of you have to experience this. I can't emphasize enough how important this is. You may be driving around with this problem as we speak. the only way you will know is...
My wife and I could have died. Do not call bs. Call the Mazda dealership in Pasco Washington. I have a lot better things to do than make up stuff to randomly post on a Mazda forum. I am trying to get the word aout about this so maybe it will save a life. If you choose to disregard that is...
You obviously havent read the whole thread. To understand what is happening go back and read the whole thread. No springs broke. These are hydraulic lifters. The problem is with the cylinder deactivation.
I agree. I feel they should recall all of the vehicles that have cylinder deactivation (CX-5 and 6), reflash the PCM, and do a visual inspection to make sure the rocker is in place at least. But it has been almost 6 months since my engine was replaced and I tried for a long time to ge them to...
When my car did this Mazda corporate was wanting all engines experiencing this issue sent back to Japan. So they replaced my engine. Not sure how they will handle it now. And yes, it had fallen off and was just sitting there.
The dealership said Mazda was taking all of the engines back that were experiencing this issue at the time. Not sure how they are handling it now. My car had less than 9000 miles on it when they replaced the engine.
Thanks sm1ke. Also, if you would like more info or you dealership has anyquestions concerning this. They can call my dealership and talk to The service manager there. Not sure if I can post the dealership name here, but its the only Mazda dealership in Pasco Washington.
