For the life of me I can't remember the name of the motor. It was designed way back in time, there is a website explaining how the thing works and why it's so great. Someone here had an animated gif of how the motor functions. I'm looking for the name of the motor.
Does anyone know what I'm...

why is the wastegate located there? Doesnt' make sense to me for good airflow through the wastegate, won't it create different backpressure into cyl 2 than the others & upset smooth exhaust flow? Not to mention that it's not an equal length header - if I was going to go tubular it sure as hell...
I'd argue that dropping the MSP would decrease the handling in most cases. The handling is already very top notch from the factory with some really nice parts.. The springs and struts on there are already well matched. If you lower the car (and increase the spring rate), you will not be...
hey those are nice!! not what I expected them to look like that's for sure. I haven't even looked, but do you know if they make a MPH/KPH verson for us metric canadians? :)
i've seen the indiglo ones. ..But I like the stock look & feel of the gauges. the indiglo ones look too aftermarket for my tastes. I want different. but subtle different. Plus I like the idea of going "custom" where I can - even if it costs a little more and is way more PITA to accomplish. I...
nope. .. I will be selling the black faced ones in these pics once I get clear templates made - but I'm keeping the main frame of it all for a custom Dakota Digital cluster I'm planning ina couple of years time. Damn those gauges are expensive!!
my $1500 rotel (circa 2001) doesn't even have video switching. there are adaptors out there that will fool it into thinking that composite (RCA) is S-video though... My next receiver will definitely have it - good point.
ya the yamaha one looks decent.
have you tried superglue? or any other variety? Good thing this is a spare cluster. It'll be a while before I get around to getting quotes for replacement faces, but I will update the thread if/when it happens... I want blue too!
cheers.
why changing colours doesn't work
There has been a lot of discussion on the TOProtege forums about changing the cluster colours. I was fortunate enough to pick up a spare cluster for a future project, and figured I might as well dissect it and really find out why changing colours is so tough...
i've had a second gear grind for 20,000km, all weather & all temps, all speeds of shift, no matter on the rpms during the shift. not every shift. but every 50 miles or so it'll grind. Looks like it's a common problem. Hopefully you've got some time left in your warranty!
our turbos aren't laggy! I'm fully spooled by 2700 to 8.5 psi.. and it reaches the proper boost level as soon as I'm on the gas over that rpm range. It's way too easy to spool IMO.
1st) Midpipe / full exhaust if you can find one used & decent price. If your HP goals are moderate, go with a...
