Super dissatisfied with the CX-5 2.5 Turbo Part 2

There's no way I believe those numbers. The Gen 2 w/2.5T is significantly faster then my Gen 1. And why would a CX-5 2.5T be slower then the "porkier" CX-9. I'm still awaiting credible numbers. My guess is 6.7 on regular. (ie halfway between Mazda 6 and CX-9)

    Signature v GTR

The reports are that Sigs are pre-sold before they even come off the boat. So far Sigs are only 5% of CX-5 shipments. It remains to be seen if that will change. The Sig leather is much nicer then GT-R. It's a softer leather and a real nice "almost black" color. The leather in the GT-R is a...

    2019 CX-5 Reviews

I had a Gen 1 Touring and the '19 Sig. is dramatically faster/torquier. I seriously doubt a tune on a Gen 1 could ever come close to matching the 2.5T. I'm still anxious to see credible numbers on the 2.5T in a true apples to apples comparison with other cars. C/D says CX-9 is 7.1 seconds...

Super dissatisfied with the CX-5 2.5 Turbo Part 2

Yes, but the 2.0T class cars like RDX, Q5, X3 have turbo lag. Pick your poison. Do you want a dead pedal and then a blast of acceleration or do you want seamless acceleration with less "blast"? If the answer is both, then go test drive a GC Trackhawk. P.S. The CX-5 gives you the option to...

Super dissatisfied with the CX-5 2.5 Turbo Part 2

My idea of "fun" is seamless acceleration without the dead pedal affect. If you want more fun try the GC Trackhawk. "To each his own".

    2019 CX-5 Reviews

One of those reviewers estimated 6.5 which sounds about right. Even if it turns out to be around 7, I'd gladly trade a few 0-60 tenths for the instant/seamless acceleration/torque. There's certainly more factors then a 0-60 number on a spreadsheet. Nothing I hate more in a turbo car then the...

Test drove a '19 GT-R and Signature today

95% of RDX?? That's an insult. The RDX has a significant "dead pedal affect", the interior is a cluttered mess and the engine sounds like crap. There's nothing about the RDX that's better then the CX-5 Sig IMHO.

What did you pay for your CX-5?

Then I think you did OK on a scarce new trim. (most dealers are holding very close to MSRP). You netted out with a $825 dealer discount from MSRP. (ie the $599 and $47 are B.S. dealership fees vs. gov't fees). How do you like the car so far??

What did you pay for your CX-5?

^^^Not enough data. - Is there a trade involved? - Are incentives included in that price? - Is Mazda involved in the financing? - What is the color? MSRP varies? IOW the only way to gauge and compare deals in a meaningful fashion is by comparing true dealer discount from MSRP: - Before any...

Test drove a '19 GT-R and Signature today

Yes, you need to add the $995 destination fee to MSRP. There's also an upcharge of $300 for certain colors and for some reason Mazda adds $400 roof rails to almost every Signature upon arrival at the port.

At a mile high the turbo will be like a night & day difference. Make sure the dealerships puts premium gas in it.

Test drove a '19 GT-R and Signature today

That's BS. Not all CX-5's are created equal. What Mazda's thrown at the CX-5 Sig. trim can go toe to toe with the upper trims of Q5, RDX, X3, etc. Materials, features, driver aids, performance, handling, etc, etc. The only thing lacking is the $10k higher price tag and the brand perception...

2017~2025 How long before a car gets to the U.S. until it hits a Midwest dealership?

He might be waiting a looong time if he wants to pick and choose from multiple Signatures in a specific dealer's inventory. As of 12/12, there are 7175 2019 CX-5's in US dealer inventory Of those 7175, only 391 are Signature trims (ie 5%) Mazda has about 500 US dealers. That means the...

2017~2025 How long before a car gets to the U.S. until it hits a Midwest dealership?

I don't see any issue. Make a purchase agreement pending your inspection and leave a deposit. Make sure it's refundable. - Car arrives in port of Tacoma. - Port processes the car and transfers it to a rail yard - Rail yard waits until there's a full train load and then slowly makes it's way...

I agree, the guys whining about the brown leather and wood trim probably haven't even seen the car in person. The brown leather looks more black and the wood trim blends in and is hardly noticeable. You have to look twice to even see it. Maybe they should have left it off.

    Noises and squeaks

I've noticed that these engines tend to be noisy when cold but quiet down once they're warm up. Maybe it's inherent in the Skyactive technology. My '19 is the same way.

Also test drove a 2019 Sig

Agree 100%. Mazda's throttle response comes on instantaneous but does drop off. This makes it feel fast but I suspect some of the 2.0T cars will ultimately produce better 0-60 numbers. However you'll have to endure their dead pedal affect/turbo lag. I'll take instant response at the expense...

What did you pay for your CX-5?

So far there have been no "real world" reports of clean cash transactions for Sigs. (trades and financing convolute any data) With so few Sigs out there (ie <5%), dealers seem to be holding close to MSRP and/or adding additional dealer markup. Get some quotes and report back what you find...
