I don't doubt that, but it just seems impractical for those that live in wet environments, not to have a light weight 'shield' protector in addition or an option. Sigh.
I just bought a GT and noticed the inside of both rear wheel wells do not have a plastic protector (? terminology) like the front, the 'gray felt' is exposed. This can't be correct? I had the wheels switched out at the dealer when purchased. Please confirm for me. Haven't been able to find...
Hi Blackbear, I got a great price on the GT with the 17"'s. I'm in Tacoma so in the end it was worth it. Thx for your offer I seriously considered it. Good Luck!
I may be interested in this, BlackBear depending on how my negs. go. How would a swap like this impact the wheel/tire warranty? I am buying my car within the next few days.
Wow! That seriously hurt my brain, but your precise & succinct explanation leaves me saying, ok, I get it. I would not have thought of the spare so double thanks for mentioning that. I have a lot to mull over around my decision, consider me schooled.
Thanks so much, I didn't understand the speed/odometer issue. No, I wouldn't want that. I do want more rubber than rim. 75% of my usual driving is city/hiway. My understanding from this site and others, is there is roughly 1/4 inch difference between the 17" wheel/tire & the 19" wheel/tire...
You're kind to hang in there with me, the ignorance here is mine not yours. I assume I can get a tire with a higher tread wall, I do not know if that means changing the width - again bare with me here. Are you suggesting that if I get a tire 'larger' than the OEM 225/65 then that will affect...
Not sure if you misunderstood me or the other way around. When I have the OEM 17 wheel & tire, (regarless of how I obtain them) I will keep the 17 wheel and upgrade the 17 tire only - there are far better all season tires than the OEM's.
Appreciate your opinions
Pardon my ignorance here, I'm just an average car consumer. I assume the dealer will use the OEM 17's from a touring/sport that is my expectation. I'll be sure to check that. Yes to the 19's, but I prefer more rubber than rim & don't want the future cost of the 19's to replace. Eventually I...
Switching 19" wheels/tires for 17" on new 2016.5 GT @Dealer - Any mechanical issues?
Hi,
I am buying a new 2016.5 GT and negotiating with dealers on switching out the 19"'s for 17"'s. One dealer said the following "... the 19" wheels come standard on the GT, as you noted. To change them out...
One thing to think about with 4 people and the dog in the back, you will loose space in the cargo area for any luggage/people stuff.
On the plus side, the 20/40/60 split rear seat backs give you options for various dog & people space.
Also, the cx5 sits higher from the ground via the rear...
I live in a cool climate, that didn't occur to me. Good to think about. I rarely have to use the A/C, tho. ;) Still Mazda should have offered black in this exterior color, seems lame. I am inclined to agree w/you about dogs in cars, for sure. However, my dog is too big for a car crate and is...
