Definitely recommended...this is what my clay bar looked like on my brand new, 1 week old CX-5 that had only 5 delivery miles on it.
Buy lots of tape to protect areas that you don't want clayed...
I go through this once a year - wife thinks I'm nuts but she loves her clean car!!
It's more the unsprung weight that I see resulting improvements in, specifically with responsiveness. Don't think I see any MPG improvements. Best MPG gains are when I drive the CX-5 versus my wife, she is hammer down!
Yep, also have orange and lime (in the motorhome shadow - kinda stunts it's growth). The lemon tree was supposed to be a dwarf, it's like 12 feet tall...lol.
Yea, some clear sealant of some sort would definitely work...that little piece of tape has about 16K miles on it, lol. Kind of out of sight, out of mind. I have renewed energy and interest to find a more aesthetically pleasing solution
I couldn't believe the tape made the whistling go away either. The whistling on mine (a very high pitched constant sound) was audible at any speed above about 45 mph, distinctly on the passenger side.
I just took a pic of my driver's side cap...it actually lays over the rail and does not form...
My OEM's pizzas with factory Toyos (with 900 miles on them) weighed 66.3 pounds. My 20" TSW Sprints with BFG 245/45 gForce Comp 2 tires weigh 59.4 pounds.
My whistling existed before I put the cross rails on. It bugged the crap out of me...my wife thought I was crazy. Not too fond of my dealer crawling all over my perfectly corrected paint. I was planning on powdercoated the rails black...at least the strip of electrical tape will match better!!
I played around with my roof rail and narrowed the noise down to the small end cap. I put a piece of tape over the gap and the whistling went away. If I ever go back to the dealer for any reason, I will have them look at it.
I have a 2017 CX-5 (but the general roof dimensions should be similar to your 2016) and use a Thule Force with OEM crossbars. No problem with fin clearance and I can position the box forward enough where I can open the hatch completely. The Thule fit guide on their website has been pretty...
Basically the same thing happened to our CX5. There was an accident in the next lane over that occurred directly in front of my wife. The shrapnel from the accident hit the front of our CX5. Damage wasn't too bad but the bumper cover did need to be replaced. I took it to a body shop that had...
We had a new front bumper cover installed on our Machine Gray CX5 by a body shop I have used before with great results. The first paint job the body shop did was off (see pic below)
They were not happy at all with the outcome so they called PPG. PPG sent some "experts" to the shop and...
I have noticed that the adaptive lights in our CX5 are not nearly as smooth as the other adaptive light equipped vehicles we own or have owned. The transition to the normal "straight ahead" headlight angle compared to the full adaptive headlight angle (something like 15 degrees) is far smoother...
If tinted windows impair your vision to the extent where you can't see pedestrians or other vehicles, than you shouldn't be driving, If you are putting 5% tint on your side windows, than yes, I can see an issue being present there. But tint in the 35%-40% range does not pose any visibility...
Our 2017 CX5 GT definitely requires more braking force than any other car we have owned. Just took a bit to get used to it, seems normal now when I get to drive it (wife's daily).
