I dig the mods! I like the 505 air box and 1.8l coil pack setup under the cover. Always thought of doing that with my p5 and cover but I have accumulated so many of the stock style coils I just run them till they die. Since rebuilding the car as it sits though I havnt gone through any coils but...
Well since everyone's posting their lovely cars here's my current ones. I just picked up and this silver that I drove 1000 miles up from CA to WA and it made the trip just fine with a trans and other heavy parts in the car. Manual trans with all options except rack and compass mirror.
Blue...
Sure you could do all of that, but if sticking with the auto trans the difference in felt speed or power will be hardly noticeable. I'd say keep the auto trans car as the good looking daily (so maybe do suspension and wheels, tint etc for looks) and find another manual trans protege. It's the...
4psi would be pretty unnoticeable anyway. Just go manual trans swap and msp swap after. If your auto car has the triptonic shifter you will also need to swap the dash harness from a manual car which makes it a bit more tricky
No, auto ecu is not good for boost. If you're sticking close to the stock hp or even below 250hp you'd be fine on an open diff 5 speed. It depends on driving style, if you're bearing on the car of course things will break. But if you treat the car well and use it as a fun daily driver you'll be...
Steedspeed replacement manifold for Mazdaspeed protege for sale.
These are my favorite exhaust manifold for the MSP platform as the fitment and ease of install is the best. They flow better than stock as well.
No cracks present but it could use blasting and coating to be 100%, still usable as...
It just so happens I'm swapping those components to another engine now for my turbo p5. Here's a reference picture, didn't mount the oil cooler yet but you get the idea. The bolt for the coolant line going into the oil cooler is 17mm (second pic).
I'd also recommend thread sealant when...
Hey bill, the Mazdaspeed Protege is identical to regular 2.0l protege engines except the following parts need to be swapped from your current Mazdaspeed engine:
-Main bearing support plate (between oil pan and engine block)
-Oil filter threads (use double nut to remove the msp one)
-MSP oil...
This is all in terms of the original MSP setup:
Oil supply is via. T connection that goes between the oil pressure switch. Then a steel braided line goes from the T to the the turbo (can't recall the line size).
Oil return is from a MSP specific main bearing support plate (between engine and...
Good write up, unfortunately I've never seen a stored code for recorded knock events and I think the ecu just uses the knock sensor on the fly if it defects knocking. But yes, at this ago all the goo has oozed out from the stock sensors. I've been running Beck Arnley sensors for a few years with...
This is an ongoing posting.
I am looking for anything Mazda protege, Protege5 or Mazdaspeed protege related. I'm especially interested in any aftermarket parts or performance oriented parts. Likewise if you are looking for parts for these cars message me as I can help you find what you need.
I...
Are you running the stock ECU? I havnt had issues with the stock ECU and egr delete except for a check engine light but as Jeff mentioned I hadn't ran the car at freezing temps or colder. If you're going stand-alone of course egr delete wouldn't matter
