Just a heads up, my 2018 CX9 Grand Touring now has 10,000 miles and 8 plus months on the replacement engine. Car is running great and I am thinking there is no reason to get rid of it at this point. The CX9 just checks all the boxes for me anyway and there is really nothing out there that has...
First call Mazda corporate...for some reason dealerships will try to dump you on any repair. Mention to Mazda how many vehicles you have purchased from them in the past. Argue your point about actual defect, but dont be a jerk. I have had several repairs completed this way to the point i didnt...
Regardless of miles, Mazda factory defect that they should repair. The 2 Mazdas purchased new will also help. I will be surprised if they dont hook you up.
I can add some data to this....my 2018 cx9 had the issue at 68,000 miles....i have always used premium since i purchased new. We need more details, facts from Mazda.
It was no problem...they went through extended warranty first which was denied, then dealership went back to Mazda for a goodwill...i have bought 4 mazdas new since 2010 and that was noted in goodwill request...do not know if it was a deciding factor or not. I would think Mazda was going to fix...
I have an extended warranty and they wouldnt cover the coolant leak issue on my 2018 cx9 gt at 68,000 miles, so much for thinking an extended warranty was a good idea. Mazda pulled through and covered it as they should...definite factory defect. New engine runs great. keeping it... currently...

Sorry to hear this. I got mine back after 3 and a 1/2 months and it was done perfectly. I guess its an issue with the new engine or the level of competency of the technician. Hope you get it back soon. I am still amazed at how great a vehicle the CX9 is......if you are more into style...
I took really good care of mine and would blast it here and there, but never excessively. It's definitely a design flaw. Currently, with the new engine, it has never run this strong. I just hope problem is eliminated and cannot happen again.
The dreaded coolant leak issue at (windshield) back side of engine at 68,000 miles. Extended warranty wouldn't cover it, but mazda did a goodwill on it and pulled through. Check out the poll engine coolant leak thread...
